Our green ethos

At BODIE and FOU, we try to be as environmentally friendly as we can. There is still plenty of room for improvements but here is what we are already doing for the planet.

1. We recycle most of our waste. Cardboard, paper, plastic and glass are all sent for recycling.

2. We also use Eco-Flow biodegradable loosefill, a biodegradable material which allows us to protect your orders in transit.

3. We re-use as much as we can.
This one was a bit tricky.... As a brand, we've built our reputation in providing high-quality products and fantastic customer service so we wondered for a long time whether we should favour branding and send everything in brand new boxes with a beautiful BODIE and FOU logo or should we try to recycle and re-use as much as we could?
In the end, we decided that it was better to re-use boxes to ship orders and do our bit for the planet rather than using brand new cardboard boxes which would most certainly end up in the bin and we hope you understand this. We do, however, spend a lot of time on ensuring that your order is properly wrapped and protected and your gifts are beautifully wrapped.

BODIE and FOU Eco-friendly tips to do your bit for the environment at home:

• Don't leave your TV or computer on stand. Both are still using 25% of their power.
• Ditch the plastic bags at the supermarket and treat yourself with one of our gorgeous eco-friendly shopping bag in pure linen or a lovely basket next time you are in France.
• Get fit, cycle to work or alternatively convert your people carrier to LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), also called autogas (you can find various suppliers on Google) and your car will also be a lot cheaper to run.
• Do not use the dryer and hang your clothes to dry with these gorgeous and quirky Bird Clothes pegs.
• Switch your electricity account to a totally renewable supplier (check out Good Energy).
• Use eco-friendly cleaning products (we use products from Ecover) and go back to grandma's tips (for instance use boiled white vinegar to remove limescale)
• Use energy-saving bulbs everywhere you can and reduce your electricity bill.
• Buy your fruit and vegetables from a market or loose from the supermarket and stay away from anything that is unecessarily packaged in plastic.
