Paulistano chair was originally designed for
The Athletic Club of São Paulo.
Now a design classic, the Paulistano chair has joined the ranks of iconic design classics from Alvar Aalto, Mies van der Rohe and is part of the famous permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA).
The Paulistano Missoni Limited Edition:
Designed by Rosita Missoni herself, the special reversible cover borrows the emblematic patterns of the Italian fashion house : both colored flowers and stripes. One single cover, two atmospheres, two different chairs. The Paulistano captivates with its smooth outlines, curved yet straight. The approach of the Italian designer perfectly conveys this aspect by creating a reversible cover. The smoothness of the floral patterns contrasts with the angles and straight lines of the frame. Inversely, the stripes of the cover emphasize on the curves of the steel bar. A subtle harmony, a plural look on a single object.
KEY FEATURES:
Exceptionally comfortable, the frame of the Paulistano chair is made of a continuous 17-foot single bended steel bar (shaped under 200 lbs of hydraulic pressure over 24 hours) and then welded in a single spot.
This deceptively simple structure is then wrapped in almost an entire hide of leather, with no surface modification, that will gain depth and luster as it ages.
NOTE TO CUSTOMERS:
The frame is hand-machine polished and may exhibit markings consistent with hand craftsmanship.
With the intention of being authentic and to get a great patina over the years, we use full grain leathers with no surface modification. The leather may exhibit little scares or natural markings consistent with natural tanning.
No cover is exactly the same.
