Copycats, Copyright Infringement and Social Media Etiquette Part 2

I was planning a nice post on fashion but once again I had to deal with copyright infringement. This is getting SO boring…I would rather write about things that inspire me but yet, while this is still happening to myself and my creative peers, I will not give up the fight. If every time I mention this, someone learns about copyright infringement, then it’s better than nothing.Last week alone, I dealt with a copyright infringement issue in Denmark on Monday and ended the week with one in the US so here is the deal (or rather the definition): Copyright infringement is the use of works under copyright, infringing the copyright holder’s exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works, without permission from the copyright holder, which is typically a publisher or other business representing or assigned by the work’s creator. In P-L-A-I-N language, it means that you can NOT use an image for commercial use that you do not own. So even if you are a Wizzard at photoshop, you are …

Inspiring concrete bathrooms

Inspiring concrete bathrooms

Concrete bathrooms with white walls are by far my most favourite designs when it comes to remodelling a bathroom. Concrete floor tiles and wall tiles as featured in the home Morten Bo Jensen (chief designer for Vipp). The bathroom unit and accessories are from Vipp. Personally, I think what makes this bathroom so beautiful is the natural light flowing from the sky window and the contrast of material: polished concrete, sleek metal units and rough/organic wooden stool. A spacious Italian shower with large, glass panels I’m not really a bath person neither do I have the incline to spend hours in a bath but I LOVE a spacious, walk-in Italian shower with a large shower head. So far, my favourite is the Mira Beat 25cm Deluge shower head and hopefully, once we move the airing cupboard, we will have the space to create a big mama shower with two of these large shower heads. I also love the bench in this one which is a great thing to have for kiddies. Textures to add warmth to this …

COMING SOON! The BODIE and FOU Christmas catalogue

I’m so excited to finally share the front and back  covers of our beautiful Christmas catalogue! It has been quite an adventure to get this front shot done and get all the stock arriving in time for our shoot.  At some point, I had to come up with a plan B…then a plan C…then everything turned up at the same time and we went back to plan A (I credit Bikram yoga & wine for keeping me fairly sane during these past few weeks) but I’m happy.  I’m in love with this Z1 pendant light by Nelson Sepuvelda, who is also the Creative Director behind this beautiful collection of ceramics (displayed on the table) and I loved it so much that I wanted to make it the key piece of our Christmas Home collection. It’s a lamp that exudes style, lightness and was just perfect for the effortless chic, stylish Christmas I had in mind. The two white chairs are the Knot chair (another beautiful piece which we recently supplied to The Hospital Club), the black & …

Depanneur in The Simple Things magazine | Contributor

I had such a great time in Brooklyn, I would go back anytime. Dépanneur, the café François and I photographed in Brooklyn for our series Café Culture with The Simple Things magazine, is one of my favourites… The weather was amazing, Brooklyn flea market is from a walking distance and I really loved the industrial vibe of the place. Plus, the team was very helpful and the sales assistant was very beautiful and adorable.// Photography: François Köng | Styling: Karine Candice Köng |  Want to talk about a project, email [email protected] http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

Winter look 2: Cropped trousers

Have you found your perfect leather jacket since this post? I’m petite (read 1.55m/5ft1) which is incidentally the same height as Ugly Betty America Ferrera and Lady Gaga so not everything fits me but one thing that makes me look ‘taller’ in a broad sense is cropped trousers and stilettos. A look that Emmanuelle Alt, my French style icon (beside my sis’) rocks regularly mais la Emmanuelle is a fabulous 1.83m…  Team up with a white, fitted shirt and a Clare Vivier mini sac it’s simple and chic. {WINTER LOOK 2} LEAVE A COMMENT THANKS! http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
