WHITES 07 | 2014

Given the current state of our home, I’m glad I started decluttering our home before the renovations but… I almost wish I had started 12 months ago…We had to clear the whole of the second floor and fit the content in the rooms below and I never consider myself a hoader but wow…its amazing how much you can fit in cupboards!Let’s say that our home is far from looking like this at the moment and I will aim to list more things here over the weekend. The good thing is that our kiwi builders are doing an amazing job which is a relief and I’m starting to really enjoy the whole clearing out process…I’m very much looking forward to a clean slate, a new wardrobe and a new, white home. What are you up this weekend? I’m taking Mila to her first singing lesson :-) Not that we expect her to be the next Katy Perry but it’s something she is really keen to do and we think it’s a good way to give her the confidence to speak out …

5 inspiring and stunning black kitchens

Following my post on the 5 sleek, inspiring and gorgeous white kitchens that inspire our kitchen’s Masterplan, I initially considered a black kitchen especially after seeing Vipp’s black kitchen in Copenhagen. However, I do think black kitchens stand out better when fitted in a very spacious, minimalist room like the Vipp flagship store where we had our pop-up store and Blogger styling competition last week, or one filled with natural light. While our kitchen has a glass roof on one side, the other part has a lower ceiling and we felt, it would make the room looking even smaller rather than giving it the sensation of space we are aiming to achieve so white it is for us (this time!). Here is a selection of the most beautiful black kitchens I came across… I’m loving these glossy black tiles. It’s so different from what we see regularly. It feels daring and luxurious yet the wooden stool, the wooden chopping boards, the industrial Potence wall light and the skylights add a warmth, inviting feeling to the whole room. If I had the right …

Atelier September in Copenhagen

Atelier September in Copenhagen

Last time I visited Atelier September, the venue was a beautiful shop selling Danish antiques. The space has now been converted into a very inspiring and relaxing café and wine shop that you will love. It is also very conveniently located around the corner of the Vipp flagship store. I loved the long, vintage communal tables and the large windows overlooking the street. Food was good, simple and tasty and apparently their yoghurt & granola is to die for. Unfortunately, I was in a rush to set up our pop-up store so I had egg and toasts. I also loved their freestanding stainless-steel kitchen which looked beautiful on the Scandinavian floorboards. I’m not sure of the brand but Bultaup has a similar one. The place is filled with natural lights and has some great magazines like Kinfolk and cooking books for sale. Since it’s now my 4th visit to Copenhagen, you can read my previous posts about places to visit in Copenhagen here, where to sleep and even where to do Bikram yoga. BODIE and FOU pop-up store at the Vipp flagship store

BODIE and FOU pop-up store at the Vipp flagship store

The BODIE and FOU pop-up store opened its doors at the inspiring Vipp flagship store in Copenhagen on Saturday and started on a high, with the visit of her H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark who purchased our Limited Edition BODIE and FOU x Vipp15 bin.  Pretty amazing, isn’t it?! I was there when she was in the shop and asked her if I could take a picture of her with our bin but due to protocol, she kindly declined. The event has been a success and there is now only a couple of bins left in the shop which you can reserve but they will only be available for collection from the Vipp flagship store. However, fear not, Vipp is starting a waiting list and the BODIE and FOU x Vipp bin will be available at the end of the pop-up store and you can also pre-order it online from us. The other great news is that we have an official press launch and a styling blogger competition where a team of international Bloggers will style a kitchen, bathroom and table using products from Vipp, …

5 very sleek, gorgeous and inspiring white kitchens

After almost a year of talking about plans, getting structural surveys done, seeking authorisations from the council, this is it! We are finally starting the renovations in our home…I’m really really excited by our future, new kitchen. When we moved in 4 years ago, I quickly painted the old kitchen with blackboard paint to give it a new lease of life but I’m over the moon the time has finally come to have the white, sleek kitchen of my dreams. Here are five, gorgeous white kitchens that inspired my Masterplan kitchen… Our old Kitchen featured here in Homestyle NZ magazine is up for a major revamp. The L shape is going to be replaced by the layout above: a long island facing a wall of units with heaps of storage, both visually leading to the garden. The 80’s window is going to be replaced by a large, architectural glass window floor to ceiling. Our tap is going to be replaced by one that has a boiling option (watch out for our kettle and old tap on Ebay :-) When it comes …
