Flatsharing: my fav’ affordable styling tips to create a happy place

When Myrooms asked me to come up with a selection of decoration tips to create a home from home when flat sharing, I jumped at the opportunity because I’ve always been a firm believer that money doesn’t equal style…or taste for that matter and that you actually don’t need a massive budget to make a room looking really nice.

10 striking & inspiring black houses

Most of us wouldn’t think twice about filling up our wardrobes with black clothing but would you dare painting your housefront in black? It’s a major statement when most surrounding houses have white or pale yellow facades but we went ahead with our home in London and painted the whole housefront in Railings from Farrow & Ball (see picture here) and should we, one day, own a piece of land with an amazing view, I would definitively do the whole black thing again. I find black houses in the middle of nowhere very alluring, like somethi I was also taken by this beautiful architectural house built on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. You can see the house tour here. Its really large wall-to-wall window with view on an amazing landscape fascinates me and I could see, how a good armchair and the view would just be enough… A striking house on the The initial design brief for this house located at Camusdarach Sands, was to create a home that would enable the Owners to view …

MUTED SHADES TO EMBRACE AUTUMN

I wanted to show you these throws in beautiful muted colours but first, I have a question for you… Does it bother you when I blog about new products we have in the shop? I’m asking this because I initially started blogging 7 years ago to… promote the shop but very quickly my blog became something else…Suddenly it became this kind of creative outlet where I had compulsively share the things that I found beautiful and that inspired me.My mum always told me “keep your life private”, “don’t mix business and pleasure”, “don’t share your life with people you don’t know…”, “keep your distance with staff” (this last one makes me cringe!)…well obviously I didn’t listen to any of that and I’m cool with it.If I had listened to everything people said to me, I don’t think I would have achieved half of the things I did, let alone started my buisness. Sometimes, you have to follow your own guts and go with YOUR flow.Back to the subject of my question, I’m asking this because after 9 …

Farrow & Ball wallpapers collection '14

Farrow & Ball wallpapers collection ’14

A few weeks ago, I attended the launch of the new Farrow & Ball wallpapers collection (out now) and what a visual treat this was… The 2014 Farrow & Ball collection is inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Each wallpaper is made by an artisan using Farrow & Ball paints traditionally printed onto painted ground papers. This process creates a uniquely textured appearance that enhances the natural forms in the designs…it’s beautiful. Aranami meaning raging waves is taken from a painstakingly crafted papercut design, which Farrow & Ball then upscaled to create a detailed, flowing pattern. Yukutori (my favorite!), which means birds flying away in a group, is a simple design taken from a mid-twentieth century  Japanese pen and ink drawing. The soft outlines of birds float across the paper creating a delicately patterned effect that could be as easily interpreted as the crests of waves or mountain tops.Amime means the space between netting, is also taken from a pen and ink drawing. It is a beautifully textured woven design that conjures picturesque scenes of Japanese fishermen repairing their …

The Bulb lamp by Mark Eden Schooley | LIGHTING

Born in the US and living in Paris, Mark Eden Schooley is a talented Photographer, Designer, and a Globetrotter… He started his career in Paris with one of my favourite designers Nelson Sepuvelda for Bloom magazine, the magazine launched by trends forecaster Li Edelkoort and now regularly shoots for the likes of Elle Decoration, Bloom, Elle Decor. In the recent years, both Mark Eden Schooley and Nelson Sepuvelda collaborated with Dutch company Ay Illuminate, to design an amazing collection of lights inspired by nature. Our best-selling Z1 pendant light is one of them… -“We believe that local handicraft carries the genes of cultural identity”- Travelling to Asia and Africa, they worked closely with local people to bring together local handicrafts and skills from different cultures. Each light is handmade, unique and a symbol of cultural identity. In a word, where we constantly hear about major brands producing their lines in factories in Asia to the detriment of the workers’ well-being, it’s reassuring to see that some brands have still some integrity.  Yes the lamps are expensive but they are handmade (not by a 5 …

Leather trousers I outfit perfection

There was a very good (and rare) interview of Emmanuelle Alt in Stella magazine recently and this photo where she looked amazing, wearing leather trousers. As I bought myself a pair, I’ve put together a list of the 10 coolest leather trousers out there just for you. 1/ I’m loving these Oak with zip details leather sweat pants from Liberty. Sadly I know they wouldn’t suit my figure, however they would be perfect for my friend Catherine who is tall and wear leather trousers and red lipstick like a fashion icon.2/ These from Mango, have a similar cut and are a lot more affordable.2/ The ones I really want are these Liv leather leggings, which are made of soft stretch leather and would look very chic with any of my linen t-shirts from Zara.3/ If you’re slim, these Acne black skinny leather trousers are the way to go.4/ If you are super slim, try these J.Brand super skinny leather trousers.5/ More into style and comfort, check out the Aldrige leather trousers from Baukjen (30% OFF)6/ Go wild and make a statement with these …
