Black & white styling from the Makelight workshop

On Saturday, I attended a photography workshop run by Emily Quinton and what a treat it was. I have meant to pick up my camera again for sometimes now but I was quite disappointed by the course I took last year at the London School of Photography and being too busy with the shop I put it off for another year. Emily’s workshop was fantastic and was exactly what I needed to go back on the horse. It was in a lovely studio filled with natural light and she made everybody feel at ease. She talked us through her experience as a wedding Photographer and then about composition, where to find inspiration, styling and then onto the technical part and then how to edit our pictures and share them via social media. It was a very pleasant way of spending the day with some lovely people and I came out of it, excited to be friend with my camera again but most importantly with all my questions answered. I’m looking forward to attending her level 2 workshop. Emily has …

5 THINGS I WNAT RIGHT NOW! 09/01/2015

5 things I want right now!

I feel so full of positive energy this morning…I’ve just managed to complete my third workout this week and did the series of ten burpees like a breeze whereas 2 weeks ago, I wasn’t even able to do two of them so I’m very happy. Steve sent me the link to a very interesting TED video about how some people find exercises harder than others. You should watch it…it’s all about vision and my vision this year is that type of body, lean and strong. 1/ Given the weather in London, I was looking for a nice, new trench (my favourite one being this classic one from Burberry) and I came across this fab coat from Helmut Lang which a gorgeous cut. What do you think? 2/ My major ‘vision’ piece of clothing to wear in the next few months is this playsuit with plunge neck from ASOS. I’m determined to wear that kind of clothes again and if you missed it, you should read Walk the Talk. Until then, I’ve settled for this jumpsuit with tie waist. 3/ and isn’t this lace …

You are what you do, not what you say you will do

You are what you do, not what you say you will do

Since Christmas, I had the following words resonating in my head: “Walk the talk” and “What if?”. So somehow I feel that 2015 is the year when I’m finally ready to re-invent myself (wow big words there!). I have spent the last 9 years trying to lose the weight I put on after being pregnant, working hard to make my business grow and the last three years, really addressing my issues around food and my emotions. Both spiralled into a mild depression at the end of 2013 for which I’m grateful, because this experience, has made me understand a lot of things and one being that I need to take care of myself. Upon this challenging phase in my life, I started questioning what the food I was eating was doing to my body and well-being and then started making some changes… 2012: I gave up smoking 2013: After getting ill, I gave up gluten (my breathing and bloating problems disappeared), started drinking 1.5 Lt to 2 Lt of water/day and took up Bikram yoga. 2014: I asked for a Nutribullet …

MILA’S VIDE-DRESSING: IG 04/01/2015 11am

A few days ago, I was asked on Instagram how I kept our home uncluttered. The short answer is that I go through our things every month. I know that there is often a lot of emotions attached to the way we don’t let go things and that’s ok. Yoga teaches you that if there is one posture you don’t want to do, that’s exactly the one you should be doing right now. I think it’s a bit the same with decluttering our personal space…the things we don’t want to let go are the things we need to let go so we can move on with our lives and address the emotions that tie us down. One thing I do now (and it took me a while of getting used to the idea) is letting go of Mila‘s baby & toddler clothes because at the end of the day, she is growing up, she is becoming her own, beautiful person with a mind of her own, her own tastes (which means she will no longer wear the gorgeous Liberty …

5 THINGS I WANT RIGHT NOW! 02/01/2015

5 things I want right now!

Hello everyone, I had a little break from the blog during the holiday but as you can see on Instagram, I was busy getting healthy, making my daily green smoothy and trying different combos. I also gave up alcohol a week before New Year’s Eve. I’m not really missing it and in comparison, giving up coke zero was a lot harder but I feel so much better. I’m drinking lots of water throughout the day and make sure I eat a balanced, healthy diet with plenty of leafy greens and proteins (no crazy diet). Back to fashion, there are some amazing pieces to grab right now in the sale. 1. I love, love, love these slim-fit leather trousers from Mango at 30% OFF. An easy, fashion look to wear with ankle boots, the linen t-shirt I usually get from Zara Summer collections and this soft cashmere jumper to wear bare skin (SO nice). 2. This beautiful ice and fur jacket at £144 instead of £180 by Hush which incidentally, has some pieces I’ve blogged about throughout the year in their pre-sale. Check out the wanderlust jacket and this quilted dress in aubergine. …
