#paris

I’m deeply saddened and horrified by what happened last night in Paris and all my thoughts go to the families who lost friends, children, brothers and sisters, parents in these horrible attacks. A friend of mine wanted to attend the concert at The Bataclan but luckily, he couldn’t get a ticket. I’m also deeply saddened that we have to raise our children in a world where killing seems to be the only answer, surely there is another way!!? As John Lennon said: “it matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love, it matters only that you love” Be safe and be strong. Love to you all xoxo PS: In observance of the three days of national mourning announced by our French President, the blog will not be updated and all upcoming scheduled posts have been cancelled.

5 things I want right now!

How has your week been so far? Mine has been good…and interesting. I took good care of myself, went to the hairdresser and frankly after three weeks of living under a rock, I feel and look human again but what I thought was interesting was how things were changing for me. I did two things that I would have never done before dad’s death.

The Kaeko coffee table by Rafic Farah

I love when there is a story behind a design, the same way I love things in my home to tell a story about our family, our life and values. The Kaeko table was designed by Brazilian Rafic Farah. One day, someone asked his father: “By the way Jorge, what is the job of your son?”…

Monday's must-have: overcoat with animal print

Monday’s must-have

Quick one before I head to the train station for a week in Paris…Each winter season, I’m attracted to animal print coats and this year, I’m loving the rock vibe of this one. I had a coup de coeur on this cape too. Teamed with leather leggings and a pair of Stan Smith, Isabel Marant Bobby sneakers, you are good to go!! What do you think?

WEEKEND#

I can’t tell you how much I love this bedroom. The matte black floorboards, the hues of dark and light grey stonewashed linen on the bed, the sheet of metal against the wall that becomes art…I could spend the whole weekend there. We’re off to Jarnac on Sunday to a commemorative rugby match the Club has organised in memory of my dad. A part of me is looking forward to hearing stories about him but I know this is going to be a difficult day for us all. Yesterday, the weather was so beautiful that almost forgot he was gone, for a split second, I thought it was a mistake, that he would soon come back from his daily walk and then it hit me that it wasn’t. My mum forwarded me this very well written article about the loss of a parent which you may find useful if you are going through the same thing. It’s in French but you can copy the link in Google translate to read it in English. Have a lovely, soothing weekend my dearest …

5 things I want right now!

Last time I did a 5 Things I want right now, Mila and I were off to stay with some friends for a wonderful weekend and then Life happened. It has been three weeks now. Some days are good, others are bad and others really bad. I’m trying to go with the flow, to bend not to break. I feel I have little to give so the little amount goes to my family, my sister, my brother, my mum so we can try to go through this together and come out on the other side stronger, closer and eventually happy again. These days, I’m all for anything comforting and soothing…soft cashmere jumpers, soft linen to sleep in, the sweet smell of baking filling the house and things with a happy vibe.

How to tell your Airbnb guests about the toilet?

I know… the last thing you were expecting me to write about was toilet but bear with me :-) I’m off to Paris next week to attend the Airbnb conference where I will be part of the Expert panel to share tips and advices on how to style your home, promote it via social media and get positive reviews.

Breakfast for champions

Breakfast is my favourite meal. I love how it gives me the chance to reset my mind and start fresh with healthy food. I love the feeling of doing something good for myself, to do things slowly… with awareness. Beside no 9 which will eventually come back when I’m ready and no 3 which I have replaced by homeopathy, these days I’m pretty much sticking to these healthy habits I’ve formed since the beginning of the year. On the subject of eating healthy food, recent researches are suggesting that depression is a result of inflammation caused by the body’s immune system. In a nutshell, anything processed (soft drinks, junk food, refined sugars) creates unhappy guts which then leads to depression (mild or severe). It’s a vast subject and one that I don’t have the energy to discuss at length right now but having experienced it first hand and seeing the positive effects, changing my diet did to my well-being since the beginning of the year, I’m firmly convinced there is a relation between what we eat …
