Child-friendly places to eat in the Bay of Arcachon

Birthday diner at the beach

Last night, we went for a family diner to celebrate my birthday. I didn’t fancy going to a typical French restaurant with 3-course meal because I can no longer stomach such heavy meals (can you!??) and I have a bunch of girlfriends arriving this weekend for a “girls weekend” so I wanted to pace myself. Instead, I wanted to do the two things I love doing the most when I’m in the Bay of Arcachon: Having a drink at La Co(o)rniche because I never get tired of the view of the Dune du Pyla and have oysters Chez Jejehne.

How to decorate your home with tartan

How to decorate your home with tartan

Few of you know that the reason I ended up living in London these past nineteen years is because of my mum’s love of British style. As a passionate seamstress, she scoured Sunday markets to find beautiful tartans from Scotland and cotton fabrics to make Elodie and I, pretty smock dresses in Summertime and dresses and jackets out of tweed, tartan and wool fabrics in Wintertime. The truth to be told, I wore tartan kilts and leather navy mocassins until I was about 13 years old and I still love wearing a tartan shirt over boyfriend jeans so when the ScotlandShop contacted me to feature their products, I thought it would be a great tribute to these childhood years that very much shaped my love for Great Britain and I know that those of you who love sewing, will be delighted to discover where they can source and order real tartans made in Scotland.

Rafa-Kids white furniture collection

Rafa-Kids white furniture collection

Rafa-Kids, a Dutch brand I was stocking when running the e-shop (sold in January for those who missed this) have released their K Desk, XL shelf and X stool in white. Designed by Agata and Arek Seredyn, both Architects and parents of two boys, the K desk combines form and function without compromising on design. Made of sustainable wood, the K desk can be set in two different positions; closed for a desk space with clean lines and get the clutter-free look we love, and open with the perfect place to store little toys and treasures, while the inside lid space is ideal for drawings, photos or important messages. Crafted with a great attention to detail you’ll see no screws or connectors outside, while the lid has a soft close mechanism protecting children’s fingers. The desk is designed in the Netherlands and made from Finnish birch wood and birch plywood.I’m a big fan of Rafa-Kids and would love the K desk and XL shelves for Mila’s bedroom in France. What do you think of this collection? Do you have a favourite Kids furniture brand? …

5 Things I Want Right Now!

I’m not sure why but I’m feeling very attracted to nude and soft pink lately, considering I’ve never been a pink person but I find these soft hues very pretty and feminine. Steve is back from his road trip in South America so we are going out tonight to catch up on two weeks of date nights ;-)

3 beautiful dark on dark bedrooms to inspire you

3 beautiful dark grey bedrooms

I did some housecleaning on Sunday and changed our linen bedlinen for a dark grey. Looking at our bedroom (first pic/and here), I have to admit that while I love white interiors, I really love the dark grey wall of our bedroom in France. Dark grey feels stylish and modern yet very intimate and welcoming. Once we have sold this house, I’m planning to move one of the Ikea Malm bedframes back to the bigger house and paint it in dark grey like the back wall of our bedroom. Has anyone done this before on Ikea’s Malm? Until then, here are three beautiful dark bedrooms which I find very inspiring. The first one was photographed by Wendy for Nu Interieur, a Dutch company I love a lot and which designed the leather handles I used in our bedroom in London. I love the Flos 265 Wall Lamp in the second bedroom (sorry couldn’t find the author & credit accordingly). I also think the bedframe in the third picture which looks like a large painted canvas, look fabulous and should be fairly easy to do with a …
