DETAILS | White outdoor staircase

DETAILS | White outdoor staircase

I’m starting a new Thursday feature called DETAILS dedicated to Interior Details. I don’t know about you but quite often, when I spend time on Pinterest, it’s very much one specific detail in an image that inspires me and leads me to click and discover a pretty cool home, a new Architecture Studio or a Designer. This gorgeous patio painted in pink did exactly that last year. So today, my first share is this white outdoor staircase which is part of a house in Hammamet, Tunisia renovated by SEPTEMBRE, a collective of French Architects from different backgrounds with complementary skills in architecture, urban planning, urban programming and interior design. This alone makes me want to go to Tunisia… // Photography: Sophia Baraket

Surfing at 40+

Surfing at 40+ because it’s never too late to learn something new

Surfing at 40+ was never an issue because age for me is not an issue. I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late to start anything you want in life. You can start over, each morning and do whatever you want. I don’t define myself or what I want to do by my age and neither should you. I think it is how you feel in your own skin that matters. You can be a fit, healthy chick in your fifties and a couch potato in your twenties. You can be cancer or depression survivor and then turn your life around in a matter of months. Being comfortable with my age, wrinkles and fine lines are one of my great achievements. Yes, sometimes my skin is dry. Some nights I drink too much, don’t sleep enough and look like hell. However, generally speaking, I’m OK with who I am and I credit this mostly to what I eat and the lifestyle changes I’ve made over the past four years. I have still work to do to be comfortable with my …

Collective Soul Shop in Hossegor

Fashion shop Collective Soul in Hossegor

Last weekend in Hossegor*, my friend Olivia and I stumbled across Collective Soul and what a little gem it was! Let me show you a few pictures I took with my iPhone because I loved everything about this shop… Decoration, fashion, vintage, upcycling, workshops, this atelier showroom ticks all the boxes and is one address you definitively want to bookmark if you’re planning a little trip near Hossegor and Capbreton. Collective Soul is not only a fashion brand (featured above) designed by Valérie Thévenot but also a great concept store with a well-curated home decoration and fashion collection. Collective Soul is definitively one concept store that deserves the title. Valérie stocks a lot of designs from local designers: photography from Javier Mendizabal and Damien Picaud, jewellery from Rebecca Grandmaison. She also sources and customises vintage Scandinavian furniture. She had some beautiful rattan chairs and 70s glassware and ceramics, photography books on display and a cute corner for babies. I was quite tempted by a few boho pieces from her own collection (loving this Aigle necklace and this Kalyani blouse) until I discovered she also had an amazing collection of vintage pieces …

Little creative project: Using plywood as a canvas

Little creative project: Creating art with plywood

It’s not secret that I love plywood. These 12 inspiring kitchens are proofs that beautiful things could be achieved with this inexpensive material and I really like how Steve’s office turned out in the tree house with plywood walls. This photo caught my eye because I thought using a piece of plywood was a great and inexpensive little creative project. What do you think? Do you love plywood or hate it? //Photography: Anders Bergstedt

Norm Architects Furniture Utopia

Norm Architects Furnishing Utopia

Norm Architects who I have mentioned many times here, here and here have recently taken part in Furnishing Utopia, a collection of 30+ shaker inspired objects featuring work by 11 design studios from 10 cities and 6 countries, channeling the Shaker aesthetic into modern forms relevant to contemporary life. Saying I’m a fan of their work is an understatement, I love everything they design and their shaker trays is no exception…
