Un bel appartement blanc aux touches naturelles

A white apartment with natural accents

Hello everyone! If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while, you know that white interiors are my first love so today, I’m taking inspiration from this beautiful white apartment with lovely natural accents. I love how lived-in and cosy it feels. It’s not a big place but it is a beautiful space don’t you think? One thing that I really want to tackle this year is our lounge in France. Steve was given a massive TV by his best friend who moved back to New-Zealand and although it was a nice thought, this very large screen is a real eye-sore in our lounge (at least to me!). I suggested we put it on the wall and get rid of the stand but somehow, Steve who is normally handy and good at DIY is not feeling brave enough to drill into the wall. Looking at the position of the sofa and chairs, I think the black picture frame on the wall is a print and not a TV but should you have one of these TV screens, it …

Grand Pigalle Hotel, Paris

Grand Pigalle Hotel in Paris

I usually stay with my sister when I go to Paris but last week I spent one night with my friend Catherine at the Grand Pigalle Hotel. I hadn’t spent some time in Pigalle since I moved to London 19 years ago so needless to say that the area had changed a lot. South Pigalle (now called SoPi by hipsters) is a great district that has a lot to offer. So if you’re looking to spend a few days in Paris or feel like trying a district you’ve never been before, I have created a handy Jauntful map for you with all my favourite addresses in South Pigalle (see below) including cool fashion and second-hand shops, design shops and places to drink, eat and sleep. You can also download my guide as a pdf here. If you want to see the other places I visited in Paris (I’m back there at the end of the month), you can also follow me on Instagram and check hashtag #bodieandfoutravelsparis SOUTH PIGALLE  Photography: photo 1 by Karine Köng, all the others by  © Kristen Pelou  | The night was sponsored by the Grand …

4 powerful health benefits from eating slower

4 powerful health benefits from eating slower

“Slow down”, “Put your phone down”, “Do one thing at the time” are some of the things I’ve heard from my mum while eating for years. Eventually, a recent appointment with my Nutritionist and numerous articles on the health benefits of eating slower started to make me wonder whether I was doing right by always rushing. In a timely manner, last week, Stéphanie (who I didn’t know) sent me a nice message and a breakfast recipe after seeing this post on Instagram and that’s all it took to make me stop, think and give it a go (timing is the essence isn’t!?) I’m sure I’m not the only one to multi-task but somehow I don’t think it’s a good thing. It is certainly not good for our health and mind and after a Summer of celebrating Life to the full (and I have no regret because it was my first Summer without my dad and I wanted to make it extra joyful), now it’s time to look after myself again to finish the year on a high and not like …

5 must-haves to go back to work while looking cool

5 things I want right now!

I had a real hard time last week packing for Paris. After spending the Summer holidays in t-shirt and denim short, I felt less than inspired to put some proper clothes back on. Sounds familiar!? If you’re in the same boat, here is a look I really like to ease back into working life. Hope you like it! 1/ If you love the “No Soy Perfecta” t-shirt I posted in my recent Look of the Day, I finally found the link here. I also like the writing and message on this t-shirt from Mango although sometimes I wonder if their in-house Designers get only their inspiration from Pinterest. 2/ If you’re looking to get a new leather jacket, I’m very fond of this biker jacket from Mango 3/I would accessorise the whole look with this tasseled shoulder bag from See by Chloé 4/I spotted this Veja baskets in Paris last week after we had lunch at Le Marché des Enfants Rouges which I recommend if you’re off to Paris 5/ Last but not least, this leather pencil skirt from Hush. Each year, Hush …

Handvark- Jury Découvertes Maison & Objet

Handvärk: “Jury Découvertes” Award at M&O

Paris is always a good idea and if you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I was there last week… I had the chance to be invited by the prestigious Maison & Objet to discern an Award to the design or Designer of my choice. It’s a great thing to receive an Award but it’s also a great feeling to be able to give an Award to someone and spread a bit of happiness around. I saw a lot of beautiful designs at Maison & Objet … Pretty things that strike a chord, others that impressed me and some that would have loved to have in my home. In the end, I decided to give the Award to Designer Emil Thorup and Handvärk for their gorgeous marble coffee table 90. Imagine my joy when I found out the company was only 12 months old! As much as I love the likes of Menu, Vitra and & Tradition, it’s a great feeling to award new, upcoming Designers where talent is so obvious. Made of 4 pieces of white marble with a steel frame, the coffee table 90 by HANDVÄRK seduces me …

Be so good that people can't ignore you

Be undeniably good

I have been spending a lot of time with my camera these past few months. With progress comes compliments, inspiration, hopes and new dreams… It has been 8 months since I sold the e-shop. During these 8 months, I took the time to get my life back, to focus on doing things I love rather than things I had to do because I was running a business. I took time to re-kinkle with an old passion of mine and to start a new one like surfing. From surfing & photography, came a new creative project: People from the Sea and for the first time in 8 months, I feel inspired to look at a new entrepreneurial project. On my search to how to make it a success in “my next life”, I came across this quote from Steve Martin which was so simple and obvious that it hit me like a ton of bricks. Yes you need hard work, passion and the right attitude to make it happen but most of it, you need to become the best at what you do and focus …
