Timeless clothes for kids 10 (C) Karine Kong Photography

Timeless clothes for kids

Don’t you love simple, timeless fashion for kids? When we were little, my sister and I wore a lot of pretty, timeless clothes that we both kept for the girls. My mum used to also sew some of them based on models from Bonton and Cyrillus. Sadly, I didn’t have my mum’s sewing skills when I became a mum, but I relished finding pretty dresses and tops for Mila. A few days ago, our family caught with Dee and her family to have dinner at the beach. Dee is the co-Founder and Designer Une Belle Epoque, an independent kids fashion brand that has the most gorgeous collection of simple, timeless clothes for children. While Dee is from South Africa, her collection feels very French and the kind of beautiful, simple pieces I would love Mila to wear. I managed to capture a few shots of the girls before it got too dark… Limi (left) wears a Can Can top and trousers from Une Belle Epoque and brown Salt-Water sandals,  Claya (middle) wears a dress from the new collection (please contact Dee for details) and navy …

A white industrial kitchen with Smeg appliances

A white industrial kitchen with Smeg appliances

I’ve always loved white kitchens. If I was a Property Developer or an Architect (my preferred choice) and I had plenty of houses to renovate, I would have fun trying different things. Maybe I will start by fitting a plywood kitchen or a gorgeous grey kitchen or even attempting to fit one with pale green units like this one in a beautiful Swedish flat. However, when it comes to living with it day in day out, a white kitchen will always be my first choice. How about you!? The high ceiling of this kitchen reminds me of this white, airy kitchen designed by Arrhov Frick, the duo of Architects who converted a former meat factory into a block of 22 apartments. The one below is from Rye London, a daylight kitchen photography studio in East London. You can also rent the space for events and workshops. I always think it’s tricky to find good, natural-lit, airy venues for an event so it’s definitively one cool address to bookmark. But let’s talk appliances for a change… This SMEG dual fuel …

Roxy surf legging

Roxy surf leggings

Have  you seen all these gorgeous surf legging from the Billabong and Roxy collections!? When Mila goes surfing, she can easily spends between 4 to 6 hours in the water swapping between her surf board and a bodyboard. The only issue is that she always gets cold after an hour or so. This means that regardless of the season, she always wears a full wetsuit. When we were in Hossegor a few weeks ago (see on Instagram), I bought her these gorgeous surf leggings from Roxy. Not only the print is beautiful but she says that they are extremely comfy and warm. I would add that they are also practical and versatile. They are much easier and lighter to carry around than her wetsuit and she has been wearing them ever since… Each time she goes in the water, being a pool, the ocean or the Lake in Cazaux, they’re on …I essentially shoot 99% of my photos with a 50mm lens so I can’t catch her when she rides a wave but since we went on the …

#weekly fashion edit 21 08 2017

#weekly fashion edit

I love fashion… I enjoy shopping once in a while. I clear my wardrobe and cupboards regularly (you can read my 15 practical, helpful tips to declutter your home) but last year I had a real overdose of consumerism just before Xmas. I know it sounds like a complete cliché and the kind of words of wisdom we find on Pinterest but after the difficult year that 2016 was, I wanted to focus on collecting moments rather than things. The ongoing“buy, buy, buy” message coming from TV ads, e-news, magazines and blogs made me angry, frustrated and unhappy. I was a real Grinch :-) I could not rejoice into the pre-Xmas frenzy and the underlying message that happiness was to be found in the latest iPhone or a new it-bag. Have you ever felt like this?? As such my weekly fashion feature “5 Things I Want Right Now!” that many of you loved, started rubbing me the wrong way so I just stopped doing it. It took me 10 months, a blog revamp and some of you telling me you used …

Collective Soul & Nouvelle Vague in Hossegor

Collective Soul & Nouvelle Vague in Hossegor

There are a few shops I always take great pleasure in visiting when I’m in Hossegor such as Bensimon-Home Autour du Monde which has a great selection of fashion & home accessories, Billabong because I love everything they do and their latest Warhol surf collection is awesome, and of course Collective Soul which remains my favourite concept store. I first discovered Collective Soul when they opened two years ago (see the first post here). Last May, Valerie, Founder of the Collective Soul started sharing her wonderful creative space with Bérangère an Interior Designer who also runs Nouvelle Vague, an interior design shop, so I thought I would show you the new set up for your next visit in Hossegor ;-) Since Nouvelle Vague opened in May, the collection is quite small but the shop has some lovely pieces to create a boho, relaxed, carefree look at home like this white cotton chair and black stools by Madame Stoltz, some beautiful boucherite rugs and nice mirrors and everything fits nicely with Collective Soul’s collection. On the Collective Soul front, Valerie …

Indigo Shibori styling

Indigo Shibori Masterclass

Do you want to attend an indigo shibori masterclass!? Of course you do!! When I return from our family holidays in Hossegor, I will then head off to the south of France in Pernes les Fontaines & Montpellier to attend an Indigo Shibori masterclass ran by Irish Designer Kathryn Davey at La Maison Pernoise. Indigo is my second favourite hue right behind white to bring Summer into a home and adds a holiday vibe to a place. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that our holiday home in France has plenty of small, blue touches from the shutters to the kitchen cupboard I revamped (see here and here) and indigo bed linens  as gorgeous as these, definitively exude Summer! Kathryn will run two workshops, one in Pernes Les Fontaines on 23rd August and one in Montpellier on 25th. There are a few spaces left in both so if you are interested in attending one of them, please contact La Maison Pernoise directly. If you are interested in booking a portrait session with me while I’m in the …

10 pretty summer white dresses in the sale

My top 10 fav’ summer white dresses

In Summer time, while I tend to live in denim shorts & white tee during the day…at night, I love nothing more than wearing a maxi or midi white cotton dress with a pair of flat sandals and I tend to stock up on them, to be honest. It’s an easy, effortless, stylish look and white is great to show off your tan no matter your skin tone. Mango is usually a good place to find a Summer white dress with a  bohemian feel. Street markets are also a great place to source some unique designs. I’ve found some real gems in the market near my holidays home and if you come to the Bay of Arcachon, let me know and I will give you some details. So far, my favourite this year is this Magnolia dress from Hush which happens to be in the sale! I love the fabric which feels a bit like linen and it has a beautiful, flattering cut. If you have a small upper body like mine but curves around the hips, it’s perfect. …
