5 intérieurs avec la chaise NAP de Kasper Salto | Republic of Fritz Hansen

5 ways with the NAP chair

On my long list of things to do in our home, is getting a new set of chairs (maybe the NAP chair) for our recently renovated dining area. Ten years ago, I bought a set of white dining chairs from AM-PM but unfortunately, out of the 8 purchased, only 2 survived. To replace them, I sourced an eclectic collection of vintage wooden chairs from second-hand shops which I then painted white (see here on Instagram, here and here) The Bertoia chair by Knoll was bought on Ebay and I’m selling a brand new one here which we are not using if you are interested. The mix and match of style and genre gave our room a relaxed, holiday vibe which I love. However, I have been living with the same look for the past ten years and it would be nice to upgrade at some point. On my radar, is this beautiful, simple NAP chair designed by Kasper Salto for Republic of Fritz Hansen in 2010. Salto started thinking about the design of the chair in 2008 and the NAP chair is the …

How to hang picture frames without drilling into your wall

How to hang picture frames without drilling into your wall

Hanging pictures without drilling into your walls sounds like a dream, doesn’t it!? Discovering that Command Brand had products that enabled me to hang picture frames without damaging our home in London after the renovations, was a major thing,  For months, I couldn’t bring myself to make a hole in our newly painted white walls… In our bedroom, I just used black masking tape to fix a few photos on the wall and left the picture frame on the floor. A look that didn’t bother me since I felt our home looked “kind of creative” that way and it suited my style anyway. In our lounge, things were a bit different. We had a lot more picture frames on the floor and our lounge started to look like an art gallery a few days before the opening of an exhibition. To be honest, It’s a look I love and I’m happy to live with it, but Steve wasn’t over the moon… In the loft conversion, I couldn’t commit to drilling a hole in our painted walls either. Picture frame on a …

white stonewashed linen

In bed with white stonewashed linen

It has been a good week but I’m glad it’s the weekend… I put a few styling Xmas shots for clients to bed. I also got nominated again by Vuelio as UK Top Ten Interior Design Blogs (happy dance 1) and  Mila’s desk area makeover got featured on Babyccino (happy dance 2). This weekend will be all about stocking up on lemons for my seasonal detox (let me know if you have any questions about it), chilling out, surfing, re-charging my batteries ahead of next week. I’m planning to tackle Mila’s bed makeover and I’m hoping to be able to make her a new headboard out of plywood. For those interested, the light fitting is the Tolemeo by Artemide and our bed linen is the white King size from the Brisa collection by Made. I’m going to change them now as Plum just got sick on it while I was finishing off this blog post. What are you up to this weekend!?

How to do the 20 days lemon detox

How to do the 20 days lemon detox

Today is the change of season (hello Autumn!) so a few friends, my sister and I, are kicking off a 20-days lemon detox. As I got a few questions on Instagram last night, I thought I would quickly explain it if you want to jump on the wagon and do it too. Lemon detox at the change of season is recommended by Naturopaths and in Chinese medicine. The benefits: Doing a lemon detox is a great way to stimulate your immune system, cleanse your liver, heal your guts from candida albicans (yeast), clear your skin, get more energy, stronger hair, nails, etc… Basically, there is heaps of advantages in doing a lemon detox at the change of season. While a lemon detox is not a detox to lose weight, you may lose a bit, providing you’re eating clean. “One of my sister’s colleagues did it last year when Elodie mentioned it to her and she lost 4 kg in the process.” I have never done a 20-days lemon detox before but I have been drinking a …

10 of the best oversized mirrors

15 of the best oversized mirrors

I’m currently planning a long-overdue refurbishment of the bathroom in our holiday home in France (see my bathroom board) and lately, I have been obsessing with oversized round mirrors. I was very happy with the minimalist look of the bathroom cabinet we got for our tadelakt bathroom in our London home, which would you believe, is from Ikea. I was even thinking of using it again for the French project as it ticked several of my boxes. Its design is simple, minimalist, yet spacious enough to host all our toiletries. The price is good too although this slimline cabinet (similar in look) from a bathroom specialist, comes in 3 finishes, an option that can be useful for some. Then Pinterest, happened… source: Sarah Sherman Samuel “An oversized mirror is a simple item that will make any of your rooms at home, look bigger, chic and stylish” From bathrooms, to bedrooms, hallways and even lounges, any room with an oversized mirror like this metal frame oversized mirror (1), simply looked really stylish and striking. A design feature also spotted in the Casa Cook hotel in Rhodes, whose …

THE EDIT Black suit & Veja trainers

THE EDIT: Black suit & Veja trainers

THE EDIT (previously named #weeklyfashionedit) is to inspire you to put together a minimalist wardrobe with fashion staples. I have recently stored my Spring/Summer clothes into a few of these stackable storage boxes. I’m ready now to re-organise my wardrobe with things to wear in Autumn/Winter. Emptying your drawers at the start of each season will help you to see the things you want to keep or get rid of. It’s like a blank canvas. Suddenly, you’re facing an empty wardrobe and it’s much easier to put back things you really want. “70% staple pieces, 30% on-trend pieces is the ratio I’m aiming for, in my wardrobe this year” Always aiming to be as minimalist as I can, I’m aiming to have fashion staples with a few on-trend items to complete the look. I want pieces that will last me for a few years. Clothes that truly reflect my style and will work for a few seasons. Based on its cost per wear, these Beckett sneakers by Isabel Marant for instance, have proven to be a great …

An inspiring creative space (DIY project)

An inspiring creative space

Looking for some inspirations to create a desk and private space within a room, look no further! This beautiful creative space, filled with natural light, is a DIY project from Dutch magazine VT Wonen. You can find the tutorial to create this little nook (tutorial & instructions here). The instructions are in Dutch but if you are using Google Chrome, you can activate an add-on (Google Translate) in the toolbar to translate automatically pages written in a different language (very useful!). They’ve used Light Blue No 22 by Farrow & Ball, which I think, looks really pretty and summery. What do you think? It is a colour I wouldn’t usually think of using as I tend to go for hues of whites and greys (see our bedroom) but I really like how it softly contrasts with the rest of the room in white and it makes SO inviting, doesn’t it!? It’s always nice to work from a space filled with natural light, isn’t it!? I initially set up an office in one of the spare rooms in …

#weekly fashion edit: Chelsea boots

#weekly fashion edit

I discovered Cecilie Copenhagen last year on Instagram and bought this gorgeous Topanga top in black which is unbelievably sexy and stylish. As the new A/W17 collection has the just hit the stores, I spotted this beautiful Beat round neck cotton dress (1) which would be really easy to wear through several seasons. “Iconic since the 60s, Chelsea boots are a great staple for Autumn & Winter” Rather than pairing it with a pair of flat pumps, I would break the mould and wear them with a pair of classic Chelsea boots (5). I really like the feeling of wearing strong, solid boots, especially when the rest of my outfit is feminine and I’m still in love with the Chelsea boots I got last year in Paris, from Anthology Paris . There is also a few sizes left on Smallable. Unfortunately, they are khaki but sometimes when a colour is dark enough, you can get away with applying dark/black shoe cream. Church’s has also some fantastic brogues and boots for a masculine look. Regardless of where you get yours from, if you …
