My first photo exhibition (bucket list #15)

My first photo exhibition (bucket list #15)

My first photo exhibition is kicking off on Monday and as I’m sitting on my bed in a bedroom far from being finished and the rest of the house looking like a building site (see Instagram stories), wondering if our home will be ready by the 14th July when we have people staying over, I can’t help smiling. Doing a photo exhibition was on my bucket list but not before 4 or 5  years so when the city of La Ville de La Teste asked me to take part in their Summer exhibitions which feature numerous Artists from June to August, I got excited and then freaked out. In fact, during my meeting with the city’s Communication Director, which, funnily enough, was on International Women’s Day (how is that for an omen!?) my reaction was to say that I needed to think about it. What is there to think about!? you are going to tell me… Well, a few things like budget as the city takes care of the marketing and communication but production costs are …

An effortlessly chic & natural style bedroom

Effortlessly chic & natural style bedroom

I recently re-decorated our bedroom to create a more natural style bedroom and found out that our home in London will soon be featured in the UK edition of Grazia magazine (mid-July issue 688). News that, in the middle of the renovations of our home in France, got me super excited. When I left London a few months ago, I was feeling extremely tearful and grateful at the same time. We had so many happy years there as a family… To the extent that I ended up kissing our walls. Have you done this before!? If not, you should try, it’s good karma :-) Here I was saying goodbye to a home, I had loved and cherished. Our first family home. It was where I first painted Mila’s bedroom walls in dark grey when no-one was using dark colours in a child’s bedroom. Where I finally designed our first (and probably not the last) Tadelakt bathroom. We also completely transformed the old 80s kitchen to create an inviting and open-plan kitchen filled with natural light. Last but not least, …

How to redecorate a teen's bedroom on a budget

How to redecorate a teen’s bedroom on a budget

If you’ve missed my stories on Instagram on Friday, I was explaining that a friend of mine is giving Mila maths lessons every Friday while I’m doing conversational English with his thirteen years old. Victoire is a good student and her English level is good so we had great fun talking about her recent family holidays in Corsica, the sports she does, boyfriend, movies and we came to the subject of things she wanted to change in her bedroom. As we covered quite a lot of topics, I suggested to her that for our next lesson, I do her mood board to re-decorate her room and we spend some time on Pinterest to find inspiration. As soon as I say this, her face lit up and clearly, she was super excited by the idea :-) So here is the mood board I did for her… Victoire’s bedroom: Her room is in her modern house. Her walls are painted white except the one behind her bed which is mauve. She had a lot of knick-knack in fuschia or …

Our home renovations Part 1

These past few months, I mentioned several times that we were planning to renovate the bathroom which is a real eye-sore (you will see that I wasn’t joking in a few weeks). Unfortunately, we also had water damages just before last Summer. As we needed to take off the oak floorboards Steve and I had painfully glued twelve years ago, I thought it was time to make a few design changes to make the kitchen work better for us. So today, I’m going to take you through the first steps of this renovation project, what they involve and the mistakes I feel I made when I designed our kitchen twelve years ago. There will be also a small section about the renovations of our hallway which took place a few days later. THE KITCHEN RENOVATIONS Our previous kitchen was a single counter running against the wall and fitted with a SMEG hob, a SMEG oven and a dishwasher. The fridge was a large American stand-alone fridge (very similar to this one). We also had a vintage …
