WAXED Coffee - Hossegor's Speciality Coffee Shop

Waxed coffee in Hossegor

WAXED Coffee is Hossegor’s speciality coffee shop. Whilst there are many cool places to hang out in Hossegor, Waxed is one of my favourites. Launched by two Welsh guys Cai and Will in June 2016, WAXED has the cool vintage industrial feel of a coffee place from East London (think Bricklane or Shoreditch) with a surfing & skating vibes. Located in the centre of Hossegor, Waxed is also one of the few coffee places that are opened all year like Billabong, Ripcurl and Quiksilver, where I finally found the black parka of my dreams (I got mine size 16 yo). I first went there in 2016 when they had just opened and went back again last week once Mila’s competition was finished. There are many things I love about this place… The food is great. They have plenty of healthy, vegan and gluten-free options. You can expect a perfect latte (€3.50) or a flat white (€3.85) made with Allpress beans – available with soy, almond or oat milk. For breakfast or lunch, you can enjoy enormous avocado toasts with poached eggs, good chia pudding with …

The wooden house of a Fashion Designer

A Fashion Designer’s wooden house

I’m particularly keen to share this beautiful wooden house with you because I think you will love both the plywood interior and the clothes by French Fashion Designer Aurélie Lecuyer. Aurélie’s home also gathers three things that we all love a lot here: Interiors, Architecture and Fashion. Her beautiful wooden house was conceived by Architect Thomas Walter from Atelier Ordinaire who specialised in wooden houses with plywood interior walls. What exudes from this inspiring plywood interior is a timeless simplicity. Like this garage converted into a Summer house, plywood walls have been left raw to maintain the feeling of a “cabane” (i.e. hut). While decorative items like this Lappalainen brass mobile have been kept to a minimum. I got mine from Tea and Kate, an independent shop I highly recommend. They have a very beautiful and well-curated collection of goods for your home (and we owe to support and purchase from small businesses if we want them to survive). How I lost 11.02lb in less than 4 weeks on intermittent fasting

How I lost 11.02lb in less than 4 weeks on intermittent fasting

As mentioned on Instagram (here and here), I have started intermittent fasting and lost 11.02lb (5kg) in less than four weeks. I’m now down to 7 kilos (15.43lb), 2 kilos lost during Summer + 5 on intermittent fasting. When I found out that I had finally lost 7 kilos, I burst into tears. Tears of joy of course but also tears of relief and sadness. The last thirteen years were not exactly a walk in the park weight loss wise. While being pregnant with Mila at the age of 35, I put on 55.11lb (25 kg). A figure that didn’t really worry me at the time. I was 7.87 stone when I got pregnant (50 kg for 1.55m) and was very active. So I just assumed that once Mila was born, I will work out again and lose it all. Except I didn’t. Over the years, I lost weight and regained it after being hit by depression, and when my father died. By the time I started intermittent fasting on 08th Sept ’18, I was 70 kg …

Our pared-down & natural London home in Grazia

Our pared-down & natural London home in Grazia

I never got around to share with you the new pared-down and natural look of our London home after the renovations (you can see various stages of the renovations here). We have since then, sold the house, moved to our holiday home in France where I started more renovations (see the rooms I’ve already tackled here) Luckily, we managed to squeeze a photo shoot with Photographer Michael Paul who had already photographed the house for ELLE DECORATION before the renovations and the new house got featured in Grazia UK (yeah!!). As many of you reside outside the UK, I have managed to get hold of the pdf to share the whole feature with you… Downstairs, we gave the existing grotty kitchen a massive makeover (read all about it here), painted the brown beams in white and added a large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the garden. The latter is one design feature that I will do again. Being able to watch the changes of the seasons was beautiful and very special (see what I mean here and here and more under this hashtag). …

10 timeless pieces to rock style like French women (from the Arket sale)

10 timeless pieces to rock style like French women (from the Arket sale)

In less than a year, the NEW brand on the block ARKET has established itself as the go-to brands for timeless, simple and beautifully made fashion staples and their collection keeps getting better.   The latest brand launched by the Swedish giant H&M, joins the ranks of other brands we love: Monki for quirky, fun fashion, COS for minimal pieces and & Others Stories – a brand whose branding I adore but I have to admit, I often struggle to find things that would work for me (how about you!?) However, finding things in ARKET is defo not an issue! Oh no!! In fact, as the ARKET SALE IS ON, I’ve selected 10 staple pieces that grace the wardrobes of us French women because I think you will love them. #1: The black fitted shirt When I saw this beautiful black shirt, I immediately thought of Emmanuelle Alt (Editor of the French VOGUE). I’m sure you’ve seen a few pictures of Emmanuelle Alt on Pinterest. If you haven’t, you can follow the new Pinterest board I dedicated to her style here. BUY IT NOW …

Stonewashed linen by Magic Linen

Stonewashed linen by Magic Linen

As much as I love travelling, there is nothing better than coming back to your own bed knowing that you will be warm, comfy and feeling secure under soft stonewashed linen sheets. For years, I checked the beddings and mattresses in all the nice hotels I slept in as an attempt to achieve the same level of comfort in my own home. I feel I have finally achieved this. For me, it comes down to a few things: first a great mattress and if possible a Super King size so you can get up without waking up your partner (check ours here), comfy memory-foam pillows, and finally stonewashed linen bedding. Besides the effortlessly chic look of naturally crumpled fabric which suits my interior style, I’ve never achieved with cotton duvet covers, the level of comfort I get from stonewashed linen bedding. I guess it’s a matter of personal tastes but I’m team #stonewashedlinen. Before the Summer holidays, I discovered the beautiful linen collection by MagicLinen. Based in Lithuania, they ship around the world. Their collection includes organic, eco-friendly stonewashed linen in various colours. …
