The Spanish chair by Børge Mogensen

The Spanish chair by Børge Mogensen is one of my favourite mid-century Danish design. A black version of Mogensen’s Spanish chair was lent to us when we photographed our home in London (see the whole feature in Grazia UK here). I wish I could have kept it… It’s a beautiful, sturdy chair, extremely comfortable with a high-quality thick leather cover and wooden frame. Have you ever tried it? This month, Fredericia releases a Special Edition of the Spanish chair by Børge Mogensen in Deep Red saddle leather. It’s a beauty! Originally designed in 1958, The Spanish Chair has been manufactured by Fredericia ever since. It’s an iconic piece you will often find in corporate settings, hotels, galleries, and private residences around the globe, reflecting Mogensen’s unique angle on modernity. I love off-the-shoulder dresses or tops! I, like many women, could write a long list of things I don’t like about my body… However, I’m working on A-DO-RING (yes adoring not just loving) my body. So I will focus on the two things I like I find sexy and that is my shoulders and collar line. It is important to focus on the positive. There is always something positive about our bodies. This is why I always ask women who contact me to photograph them, what part of their body they love the most. They often love just one or two things about themselves. Like many of us during the Covid-19 lockdown, I turned to cook and baking. I’m not a natural Cook. In fact, I usually feel I don’t have time to do things in the kitchen and I’m known for walking away from the hob and leave things to burn. However, these past few weeks, things have changed a bit. I have cooked and baked a lot more and the crazy thing is, I no longer hate the whole thing. I’ve always admired my sister-in-law and mother-in-law in New-Zealand for their abilities to make muffins, scones, and other delicious things while we were sipping a cup of tea. They made it so easy… So now that I had a new-found love for cooking, I wanted to try a few recipes that Mila would love without them being a total sugar bomb. I’m counting the days until we can spend some time at CASA PYLA… To wake up in the morning and smell the Ocean. To walk down to the beach for 2 minutes in my linen dressing gown and drink my morning cup of tea before anyone else populates the beach. To get some fresh produce from the local shops without taking the car. To cook wholefood for friends and family with all the windows wide open. To nap in one of the hammocks in the afternoon. New fine art print – “Hang in there”

Oversized art prints are a great way to add a striking focal point to a plain wall. My new fine art print “HANG IN THERE” is a reflection of the mixed emotions the world has gone through these last few weeks. There is a bit of uncertainty, the need to be comforted and yet this overall gentle, tender feeling that we will be alright. It’s a beautiful, striking print that will bring any white wall or a dark wall to life. How are you all doing? I see a lot of people struggling on Instagram, getting really stressed out and worrying about the Corona 19 and it breaks my heart. Worried about it is understandable. It’s a new situation for everyone to deal with. Added to the unknown, the fear of getting infected comes the money issue. A lot of people running small businesses like me will be affected. No-one knows how and when we will come out of the other side but I know we will. Some may have not been affected by the economic downturn in 2008 but in terms of money worries, this was a big one to go through too. Yet we all survived because times like us make us resilient, resourceful and proactive. I don’t know if it’s because I went through 2008 hell and back but I’m not feeling worried this time around. One of my biggest fears back then was to lose everything. When I say lose everything, at the time, my mind was fully focused on material things …

Minimalist bathroom with off white tones

A minimalist bathroom with off-white tones is likely to be the look of bathroom #3 in CASA PYLA. As known as Mila’s bathroom. Mila spent years telling me that our home in London was too white. Now that I’m moving towards warmer tones, she wants a white bathroom and ensuite. Go figure… This ensuite bathroom is 3.46 m2. It is not a huge space but decent enough for an ensuite. East facing, this bathroom has plenty of natural light all day and a window overlooking the front garden from the first floor. Before we knocked down the partition walls, there was a large built-in wardrobe and a basin. I’m replacing everything by an Italian shower with a niche (see picture below) and a large bathroom sink. I love this L: A BRUKET range, don’t you!? Plenty of storage is key to achieve a minimalist design for your bathroom. A large cupboard will allow you to store eye-sore skincare/hair products away while keeping some of your nicest skincare on display. When it comes to styling a bathroom, my …
