Last time I wrote about my friends’ home in Bristol was in 2009 and Gabrielle and Peter had just moved in. At the time, it was already a gorgeous place with very pretty Georgian period features and the most beautiful cast iron stairs I had ever seen…Fast-forward five years and G has turned the space into a wonderful, feel-good family home with soft hues of greys, vintage found and stylish pieces and beautiful hues from Farrow & Ball. Gabrielle, who is an Interior Designer (and TV presenter for BBCTV), designed the kitchen cupboards and got them made by a joiner. They were then painted in Strong White by Farrow & Ball

The table belonged to her her granny and she updated the tabletop with a stainless-steel sheet (which I thought was a great idea the first time I saw it) and the green paint is the original from the 1930s…

The crockery is a mix from from flea markets, things they had for years and Ikea. If you love enamel cookware, West Elm has a great selection here with several pieces in sale and you will find the brilliant Falcon Enamelware at Heals in the UK.

In the lounge, Gabrielle painted the walls in Elephants Breath White by Farrow & Ball.  The trestles from the dining table are form 1920s and the zinc tabletop was custom-made. The French armchair was her grandmother’s (lots of gorgeous family heirlooms) but the Wentworth armchair here and the Melbury armchair here are very similar. Made.com has also a great collection of armchairs here.

The yellow sofa and the grey chair are from Cream & Chrome, a shop in Bristol (see more options here) and the gorgeous mirror on the wall is from Charles Bateson. Their site is not e-commerce but this one from Brissi looks very similar and is very very pretty!

In the bedroom, the walls are painted in Lamp Room Grey by Farrow & Ball and the gorgeous, soft stonewashed linen are from BODIE and FOU :-). The bed was initially a plain divan base from John Lewis and Gabrielle made the headboard from timber (I had used MDF for mine here), then you just need a staple gun (from Amazon) to fix the padding and then your fabric.

The old cupboard is an old police locker found on ebay and sprayed in Arsenic by Farrow & Ball.
