For more inspiration read www.karinecandicekong.comSince I’ve been styling our stonewashed linen collection in our guest room (above) for our SS/2012 catalogue, I have been dying to re-decorate our own bedroom. When we moved in, a couple of years ago, my first call of action was to paint the magnolia walls and wardrobe in white except the wall behind our bed which I painted in light grey (Pavilion Gray from Farrow & Ball). Once this was done, my mum and I hacked a Malm bed from Ikea and built a headboard which we then covered with dark grey fabric (you can see a glimpse of it here behind Mila). This morning, while browsing Pinterest I felt in love with the soft grey tones of this gorgeous bedroom which I could easily achieve with this linen duvet cover and stool I have at home and this motivated me enough to pick up my paint brush and spent the next four hours applying the second coat of paint onto our wardrobe.

I then started searching for a new base and mattress…Not that it is required to achieve the look of this bedroom but since Steve and I stayed at the Hilton Hotel last week in Cyprus, we both have been keen to achieve a similar level of comfort with our bed.
I normally wake around 6am and as Steve is a light sleeper, he usually gets woken up too, which doesn’t always put him in the best of moods, to say the least.
In our hotel bedroom, the bed was made of two separate beds joined together so I could have jumped up and down on my mattress for that matter, Steve would not have be bothered. Each mattress had also an extra layer that made sleeping incredibly comfortable so I’m now on a mission to find the perfect base and mattress and create a beautiful, inspiring bedroom.Bedroom masterplan.
