A wonderful & inspiring back garden

A wonderful & fun boat trip to the Cap-Ferret

Two days ago, Mila and I took the boat to spend the day with Catherine who was staying with friends in the Cap-Ferret. Taking a boat trip to the Cap-Ferret for the day is one of my favourite thing when I’m in the Bay of Arcachon. It feels like a mini adventure and it’s a really nice way to spend the day and do something completely different. You can get a ride from Le Moulleau, Pyla or Arcachon and crossings varies between 20 min and an hour and will drop you at different spots on the island.

10 of the coolest beach bars in the Bay of Arcachon

7 of the coolest beach bars in Arcachon

We are enjoying the most gorgeous weather at the moment and spent last weekend at the beach going from one bar to another to make the day lasts longer. If you are planning to come to this side of the world, here are the coolest beach bars in the Bay of Arcachon where we love to hang out. I have listed 7 (all kids friendly), one to try every night of the week…Enjoy!

Child-friendly places to eat in the Bay of Arcachon

Birthday diner at the beach

Last night, we went for a family diner to celebrate my birthday. I didn’t fancy going to a typical French restaurant with 3-course meal because I can no longer stomach such heavy meals (can you!??) and I have a bunch of girlfriends arriving this weekend for a “girls weekend” so I wanted to pace myself. Instead, I wanted to do the two things I love doing the most when I’m in the Bay of Arcachon: Having a drink at La Co(o)rniche because I never get tired of the view of the Dune du Pyla and have oysters Chez Jejehne.

What are you up to this weekend? I’m driving Steve to the airport as he is off to join a friend in Argentina on a bike road trip. Travels are high on my priorities this year so when he asked me if he could do it and be away for 2 or 3 weeks, I was like “yes of course, go ahead, I wish I could come with you” but now it’s departure time, both of us are not looking forward to being apart from each other :-) Here are some cool, fun links for you: The Dune of Pyla (above), which is near our holiday home in the Bay of Arcachon has been listed as the second best beach in the World out of 50 by The Guardian! Here is an article in Sud-Ouest. This video of David Beckham and James Corden cracked me up. I love this hotel in Puglia through the lens of Carla Coulson. Are you a hot skinny bowl fanatic? I finally got around to read this long article and it was so interesting, such a different area …

Weekend away in the Bay of Arcachon

It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful the Bay of Arcachon is, even in Winter. Last weekend, the weather was just glorious and so mild for November, it felt like a gift.

Holiday rentals in the Bay of Arcachon

We always spent our holidays in France in this home which is now fully booked the whole Summer except the week from 22nd August but we also have this pretty house for 6 people near the Bay of Arcachon where I stayed for three months after giving birth to Mila.

TRAVEL: 4 BOUTIQUE HOTELS, ARCACHON/CAP-FERRET

I spent all my childhood holidays in the Bay of Arcachon with her (who was feeding us with Nutella and ice creams after the beach…happy times!) First in Biscarosse, when she was Director of holidays resort (and I recently realised how terribly modern she was being in management in the 60s with 4 daughters in tow), and then in Arcachon where she retired in 1977. It’s a really beautiful region with amazing sand beaches and landscapes and if you’ve never been, have a look at the photos I posted on Instagram from my recent trip… The first time, our home in France was photographed by YOU magazine in 2007, I had a hard time finding a decent design hotel to recommend to the team. There wasn’t much around and the few 4 stars hotels around, had just vile interior design with horrible bedspreads. I’m glad to say that things have changed for the best in the past seven years and here is a list of my favourite design/boutique hotels around the Bay of Arcachon to drink/eat/sleep.
