3 beautiful dark on dark bedrooms to inspire you

3 beautiful dark grey bedrooms

I did some housecleaning on Sunday and changed our linen bedlinen for a dark grey. Looking at our bedroom (first pic/and here), I have to admit that while I love white interiors, I really love the dark grey wall of our bedroom in France. Dark grey feels stylish and modern yet very intimate and welcoming. Once we have sold this house, I’m planning to move one of the Ikea Malm bedframes back to the bigger house and paint it in dark grey like the back wall of our bedroom. Has anyone done this before on Ikea’s Malm? Until then, here are three beautiful dark bedrooms which I find very inspiring. The first one was photographed by Wendy for Nu Interieur, a Dutch company I love a lot and which designed the leather handles I used in our bedroom in London. I love the Flos 265 Wall Lamp in the second bedroom (sorry couldn’t find the author & credit accordingly). I also think the bedframe in the third picture which looks like a large painted canvas, look fabulous and should be fairly easy to do with a …

WEEKEND#

Thank you for your wonderful comments on Instagram, the blog here and via email….really beautiful. I read them all and thought maybe, this BODIE and FOU Interiors book I have postponed writing for the past three years due to lack of time, would be a nice project for next year…will see.

Bedroom with a view

Bedroom with a view

I had a real coup de coeur for this bedroom with a view, filled with natural light. The separation wall was knocked down and replaced by these large windows. The result has increased the sense of space and make everything flow nicely. This is the home of Danish Artist Gitte Svendsen. On one side, there is the kitchen and artist’s studio and on the other side, the bedroom and a dining table by the window. I’m planning to do something similar in Elodie’s new flat in Paris, between Lily‘s bedroom and the lounge to open up space and bring more natural light into her flat. I think this is a beautiful example of what can be achieved, don’t you think? I also love the mix of throws, rugs and wooden vintage furniture that add warmth and textures to the room. I would be quite happy to hang out there for the day, wouldn’t you? You can see more pictures here

WEEKEND#

I can’t tell you how much I love this bedroom. The matte black floorboards, the hues of dark and light grey stonewashed linen on the bed, the sheet of metal against the wall that becomes art…I could spend the whole weekend there. We’re off to Jarnac on Sunday to a commemorative rugby match the Club has organised in memory of my dad. A part of me is looking forward to hearing stories about him but I know this is going to be a difficult day for us all. Yesterday, the weather was so beautiful that almost forgot he was gone, for a split second, I thought it was a mistake, that he would soon come back from his daily walk and then it hit me that it wasn’t. My mum forwarded me this very well written article about the loss of a parent which you may find useful if you are going through the same thing. It’s in French but you can copy the link in Google translate to read it in English. Have a lovely, soothing weekend my dearest …

Natural bedroom styling in France

A few weeks ago, I updated the styling of one of the bedrooms in this holidays home which you can rent via Airbnb. Bearing in mind that the house is for sale and I can’t give it too much of a strong identity so everyone visiting it, can project their own style, I have decided to leave the walls white and add small styling touches to create a happy vibe. This was an inexpensive styling job (only about 15 euros for the stretched canvas), a few tear sheets, my BE HAPPY print, some family photos and quotes found on Pinterest.

How to make your own linen spray

Since we added these soft stonewashed linens to collection in the shop, I have, little by little, replaced all our cotton beddings by stonewashed linen, which admittedly is an investment but it also goes with my objective to have less clutter in our home. So I have now less duvet covers that we used to, but the ones I have, are ones that I really love. So here is a little creative project (really quick and easy), for you to make your own linen spray so that your bed linen, be it stonewashed linen or cotton, smells wonderful.

Our white bedroom update

Our white bedroom update

Since we finished our house renovations, I have been resisting hanging picture frames onto our walls. I love our white pristine walls so much that I don’t find enough incentive to change things and hang all the pictures we have. Hence, I have a nice collection of black & white prints on the floor in our lounge. Yet these pictures frames looked so good on the wall together that I’m planning to make a similar display in the top bedroom where we converted the loft. In our bedroom, I wanted to achieve a soothing look so I used stonewashed linen on our bed and just put a few photos on the wall fixed with masking tape. The Rock Flag print is left casually on the floor until I decide which one will end up in our bedroom for good. To add textures to the room, I added this beautiful basket. I love how it contrasts against the all-white scheme of the bedroom and adds a summery feel..

London calling

I’m heading back to London on Sunday for a styling job which I’m really excited about. Ideal Home magazine is also coming to photograph our kitchen and as my company BODIE and FOU is exhibiting our prints collection at Design Junction from 24th to 27th, I will be attending our stand there too (I hope to meet some of you there!) I was struggling to leave this place when the weather was nice but now that it’s pouring down rain, it’s getting a lot easier. Here is a random bunch of photos of our home I took with my iPhone 6 a few months ago (I have so many photos to go through, it’s insane!) but I’m looking forward to spend some time in this gorgeous space. I have missed that room. I’m so in love with the resin floor we added throughout the ground floor – still need to source some chairs though….I can’t wait to hang out in our beautiful tadelakt bathroom, potter around the kitchen, and finish decorating our bedroom too. It’s almost there but I have a …
