2 weeks healthy challenge: Update 1

Shortly after writing about this creative challenge, we left to go on holidays in our house in France (featured below in Côté Ouest magazine) and the first week, I really didn’t feel like sitting in front of a computer which I think is a good sign. Instead I focused on eating clean, giving up coke zero and not dieting but changing my whole lifestyle and eating habits… As per my beach checklist + yoga download post here, I was planning to do Jason Vale’s 7 days juicing plan but the recipes didn’t really work for my Nutribullet (which blends not juices) so I switched challenged to have a daily green smoothie and focused on eating things that do not come out of a packets. When you shop for food at the supermarket with this in mind, you will see that you end up buying a lot of fruits and vegetables. How is this going so far?*Coke zeroI’m on week 4 of giving up Coke Zero which was before, a daily sugar fix (watch Hungry for change documentary on Netflix if …

MY BEACH CHECKLIST + YOGA DOWNLOAD

We are heading to our holiday home in France on Friday evening and I’m seriously counting the days! The #bodieandfourenovations are going well (see Instagram) but we took… the chimney breasts off the ground  floor, first and second floor yesterday and the dust is getting a bit too much. Our house has holes everywhere and I’m officially living in a big piece of Gruyere now. Here is a list of the things I always pack when heading to the beach. I think I’m pretty low-maintenance when it comes to packing as I always use my time at the beach to slow down, eat well, work out and generally keeping things simple. Anything else missing from my list is because they can be obtained easily from any local supermaket BEACH CHECK LISTAccessories– Sunglasses (I’m selling a brand new pair of Chanel sunglasses here).– Straw hat. We always leave heaps of straw hats in our French home and I usually get them from the local market.– Iphone + EU plug + battery charger + USB cable + spare adaptor UK to EU– Camera + battery charger + USB cable– Cotton Beach bag (large & …

6-week beginner running plan

As promised to myself, as soon as I arrived in New-Zealand, I started the good habits again: drinking 1.5 lt of water/day, eat more fruits and vegetables, avoid eating gluten and start running again. Each day I run I feel excited, hopeful and scared at the same time….Excited to run again and doing something positive for my well-being, hopeful that soon I will feel better and scared that I will feel as down as I felt last November when I got hit by depression but at the same time, I know that if I keep eating healthily and work out regularly, I will be fine.My sister sent me this running plan for beginners that is really good. It’s for beginners and although I used to run 10K a while back, I haven’t run for over 12 months so rather than going for a 20 min run straight away and ache, I decided to do it gently. Each day I run, I feel great. The plan is in French so I’ve translated it for you. It’s normally over 6 …

The Boyfriend jeans look | Outfit perfection

One look I absolutely love wearing at weekends, is the combo: boyfriend jeans + white shirt. It’s casual but add a pair of stilettos, a pristine fitted white shirt and a Clare Vivier clutch and you’re ready for brunch in Notting Hill. Two of my fav fashion sites Coggles and My-Wardrobe have some great boyfriend jeans from Diesel and Maison Scotch. It’s a look that Mandy from Hush Homewear wears very well here and Olivia Palermo too here with flat shoes and a white blazer. Sadly, flat pumps don’t really work on my short and curvy figure but what works perfectly, is the pair of leopard printed stilettos I got in the Zara sale (here on IG). I think they’re all sold out now but Debenhams and La Redoute have a decent collection in the sale. 3 useful links for you…**Fashion: My favourite look by far…option white t-shirt for the beach + pretty necklaces**Food: Steve and I had lunch at Granger & Co last Saturday in Notting Hill. It’s one of the restaurants own by Australian Chef Bill Granger. The interior design is not groundbreaking but the food is good, healthy and tasty.**Fitness: Get yours …

30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 3

How are you today!? Isn’t this weather just A-MA-ZING today!? It finally feels like Summer and a very good reason to push forward and keep focused on our goals so today is DAY 3 of my challenge and my body is feeling VERY stiff.I was told today by my yoga teacher that it was normal and that I should see my 30-day challenge as a journey, without expectations (yeah right! If I don’t lose a bit of weight, I’m going to be well pissed off) but all I need to focus on tomorrow is to turn up to the class and can do that. While my body feels very stiff, my mind is very very focused so I’m going do this…day after day. This morning I got a direct message via Twitter from someone who was thanking me for inspiring her to start eating healthily and for kicking off her weight-loss to lose 2 stones and this really made me happyI have equal admiration for the women out there who have a super fit yoga body and the years …

Awesome spicy prawn salad | Healthy eating

Yesterday Francois & I was styled & photographed a collection of prints for a client in my home so I made sure we had a healthy, filling salad at lunch time.Once recipe I have been doing for a long time (long before embarking on this healthy eating journey) was the Spicy prawn salad by Michele Cranston from her Seasonal Kitchen book. Her book and Donna Hay’s Seasons are by far my two favourite cooking books (the styling in Donna’s book is amazing) and as general rule, I’m much prefer the relaxed approach of Australian Chefs than French Chefs. I’m not much of a cook and for me, cooking is all about entertaining, having friends and enjoying good foods so I like it when it’s all relaxed, easy to make and super yummy.Oh and I almost forgot!! Here is an example of how I use cotton bags to store Mila’s things as mentioned in my post yesterday.{Spicy Prawn Salad recipe}20 cooked prawns (shrimp), peeled and deveined1 large red chilli, seeded and finely chopped (this is too hot for me so I …

Today is the first day of my new life

{It was an awful experience but one that opened up things for me} OK this is going to be an emotional post so you are warned…Today for the first time in the past two weeks, I feel myself again…These last two weeks I have been ill, the first week with the flu and as I was trying for my mind to be more powerful than my body to beat this thing, I didn’t go to the doctor…The second week, my immune system was so low that I caught a viral stomach bug that literally sucked the life out of me. I could hardly stand on my two feet and spent the whole week in bed.I’ve never felt so powerless, useless and lonely. It was an awful experience but one that opened up things for me and I never EVER want to feel like this again. {We always take our health for granted until it’s gone} I’m lucky, I have already got a pretty healthy lifestyle. I don’t smoke (I stopped last October when I went to see her)I …
