How to create a stunning kitchen with plywood

How to create a stunning plywood kitchen

Besides its eco-friendly properties, plywood or wood from sustainable forests are a great alternative to re-design your kitchen on a budget. Personally, I’m a huge fan of this material which we used at home in Steve’s tree house. I love the warmth and the Scandinavian vibes, wood adds to the room and if you’re not convinced, let me show you 12 examples of modern kitchens re-designed with plywood. Plywood kitchen project #1 Starting with this beautiful, airy kitchen designed by Toby Scott in Australia, plywood is kept to a minimum and adds warm accents to this open-plan room.Plywood kitchen project #2 Designed by the Tribe Studio, an Australian architectural studio with an impressive amount of amazing interior design projects under their belt, this kitchen with plywood units provides plenty of storage. Be prepared to spend quite some time drooling on the Tribe studio website.Plywood kitchen project #3: Renovated by Made Architects, a Belgian architectural studio, this kitchen in a 1950’s house is small and compact but I love how they maximise the space up to the ceiling while increasing the …

A beautiful Swedish flat with white floorboards

I’m not sure if it was the kitchen units which reminds me of my Ladurée scented candle (it’s so rare to see pale green kitchen units isn’t it?) or the white floorboards but I found this beautiful Swedish flat very soothing and calming, don’t you?

White kitchen makeover

Our white kitchen makeover

After 10 months of renovations, our home in London is finally ready and today I’m really pleased to share with you photos of our white kitchen makeover. You can see photos of the kitchen before the renovations when it got featured in Bolig magazine,  VT Wonen and ELLE DECORATION. The kitchen counter is made of Corian. The kitchen units are by Ludlow of Holloway and they also fitted the long breakfast bar. All the appliances are from Miele.

A minimalist white kitchen with high ceiling

A minimalist white kitchen with high ceiling

The minimalist design, the white walls, the massive sky window to fill the room with natural light, the soothing combo of white and natural wood makes this kitchen one of my absolute favourites. From a design point of view, kitchens are my favourite room in a home and I’m absolutely loving everything about this white, airy kitchen. What do you think? This kitchen is from a block of 22 apartments built in a former meat factory by Swedish Architecture practice Arrhov Frick. Sadly I couldn’t find more pictures of the kitchen or the whole flat to share with you so we will have to make do with this sole photo and imagine how the rest of the flat could look like. The design of this kitchen is very simple but yet so effective and works wonderfully in a small flat as we all as a warehouse-type conversion. Subtle black touches are added throughout the room like this classic Vitra Eames house bird (available from John Lewis) sitting on top of the kitchen units. The square table and the chairs are …

Decorating with copper lighting

Decorating with copper & brass touches

Early this week, I added this beautifully styled kitchen to my Pinterest and realised, digging a bit further, that it was actually a rendering by Raya Todorova rather than a photo, which is pretty amazing. I love the balance between the three copper pendant lights and these 3 beautiful stools against the black kitchen units. I’m not too sure where these lights are from but the Freja pendant light and the Original BTC Stanley copper pendant light available from Marks & Spencer  and Liberty look very similar (still hunting for the stools though…). Since launching the Aston pendant light a few months ago, we received a lot of orders from Australia for residential and commercial projects and I suspect this will be soon the case with the new black Freja pendant light which has a similar copper finish inside to these ones below seen in the home of Athena Calderone. If you are after some beautiful wooden bar stools, check out the Raft bar stools by &Tradition and the Devlin bar stool from Made.com. The Safari chair in the foreground is available from French Connection Homeware (seen …

black kitchen with Philippe Starck Masters chairs

Black dining chairs…

For our dining room, I’m looking at two chairs for now….The Knot chair (tried, tested & loved) which has been one of my top favourite chairs for a long time. I took the black one home recently to see how it would look in our new lounge and it looks fab. Second option is the Masters chair designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell. Starck designed the Masters chair to pay tribute to three iconic chairs: the “Series 7” by Arne Jacobsen, the “Tulip Armchair” by Eero Saarinen and the “Eiffel Chair” by Charles Eames. It’s very comfy and has a special finish on the chair, which makes it feel sensual and velvety to the touch but mostly I love the look of it. What do you think? SHOP THE LOOK Photography: 1. A sneak-peek of our kitchen | RENOVATIONS

After 4 1/2 months of intense renovations and an insane high level of dust throughout the whole house, our kitchen is almost ready (see old one here) and I really thank you all for all your very kind comments when I posted this photo. I spent last weekend unpacking and re-discovering pretty ceramics I hadn’t seen in over four months and I even bought some fresh basil in a pot. Once we are settled down, I will defo add one of these beautiful plants. Was four months without a kitchen worth it? Oh yes! We’ve tripled our storage space and created a white kitchen that I loved (I really hated the previous one), with a beautitful, smooth Corian worktop and a very long and inviting breakfast bar. At some point, the level of dust in our house was so high that it was a real challenge to have a ‘normal’ family life, let alone finding a space or the energy to write a blog post so I’ve posted most of the renovation updates on Facebook (you can view the whole renovations album …
