WAXED Coffee - Hossegor's Speciality Coffee Shop

Waxed coffee in Hossegor

WAXED Coffee is Hossegor’s speciality coffee shop. Whilst there are many cool places to hang out in Hossegor, Waxed is one of my favourites. Launched by two Welsh guys Cai and Will in June 2016, WAXED has the cool vintage industrial feel of a coffee place from East London (think Bricklane or Shoreditch) with a surfing & skating vibes. Located in the centre of Hossegor, Waxed is also one of the few coffee places that are opened all year like Billabong, Ripcurl and Quiksilver, where I finally found the black parka of my dreams (I got mine size 16 yo). I first went there in 2016 when they had just opened and went back again last week once Mila’s competition was finished. There are many things I love about this place… The food is great. They have plenty of healthy, vegan and gluten-free options. You can expect a perfect latte (€3.50) or a flat white (€3.85) made with Allpress beans – available with soy, almond or oat milk. For breakfast or lunch, you can enjoy enormous avocado toasts with poached eggs, good chia pudding with …

Collective Soul & Nouvelle Vague in Hossegor

Collective Soul & Nouvelle Vague in Hossegor

There are a few shops I always take great pleasure in visiting when I’m in Hossegor such as Bensimon-Home Autour du Monde which has a great selection of fashion & home accessories, Billabong because I love everything they do and their latest Warhol surf collection is awesome, and of course Collective Soul which remains my favourite concept store. I first discovered Collective Soul when they opened two years ago (see the first post here). Last May, Valerie, Founder of the Collective Soul started sharing her wonderful creative space with Bérangère an Interior Designer who also runs Nouvelle Vague, an interior design shop, so I thought I would show you the new set up for your next visit in Hossegor ;-) Since Nouvelle Vague opened in May, the collection is quite small but the shop has some lovely pieces to create a boho, relaxed, carefree look at home like this white cotton chair and black stools by Madame Stoltz, some beautiful boucherite rugs and nice mirrors and everything fits nicely with Collective Soul’s collection. On the Collective Soul front, Valerie …

Sea, Surf & Fun

Summer ’16 The Edit | Sea, surf & fun

Week 2 (and last) of our stay in Hossegor and we all feel like we could have stayed here for a month. The weather has been absolutely amazing and everyone has really enjoyed surfing. We spend days at the beach swimming, surfing and sleeping and then days turned into late nights. If you’ve never been to Hossegor, you should know that Capbreton and Seignosse are really really close and great places to stay too. In fact this Summer, we’ve spent most of our times in Seignosse where our friends were surfing. However, I can’t believe how crowded it is. There are about 30 surf schools in Seignosse versus 2 à La Salie (in the Bay of Arcachon) and it’s not a good thing in terms of security. In the Bay, we can all walk in the water in a line and have our own wave, here it’s impossible. If you’re a Beginner surfer, you will always worry about your board hitting some kids’ head. Last year, we took a course with Clement from Surf Cactus in Cap-Breton. This year, …

Collective Soul Shop in Hossegor

Fashion shop Collective Soul in Hossegor

Last weekend in Hossegor*, my friend Olivia and I stumbled across Collective Soul and what a little gem it was! Let me show you a few pictures I took with my iPhone because I loved everything about this shop… Decoration, fashion, vintage, upcycling, workshops, this atelier showroom ticks all the boxes and is one address you definitively want to bookmark if you’re planning a little trip near Hossegor and Capbreton. Collective Soul is not only a fashion brand (featured above) designed by Valérie Thévenot but also a great concept store with a well-curated home decoration and fashion collection. Collective Soul is definitively one concept store that deserves the title. Valérie stocks a lot of designs from local designers: photography from Javier Mendizabal and Damien Picaud, jewellery from Rebecca Grandmaison. She also sources and customises vintage Scandinavian furniture. She had some beautiful rattan chairs and 70s glassware and ceramics, photography books on display and a cute corner for babies. I was quite tempted by a few boho pieces from her own collection (loving this Aigle necklace and this Kalyani blouse) until I discovered she also had an amazing collection of vintage pieces …

10 great things to do in Cap-Breton

10 great things to do in Capbreton

We had the best of times recently holidaying in Capbreton but generally speaking I love the whole vibes between Seignosse, Hossegor and Capbreton. We did lots of sports, Mila Sienna had a ball skating. We ate healthily, slept well, caught up with friends and in the end, everyone had an amazing holiday and we all trimmed down. Less than 2 hours away from our holidays home, it’s an area we know well. We had planned a trip to San-Sebastian or Biarritz if the weather was bad but it turned out absolutely gorgeous for two weeks so no sightseeing for us but we did a lot of sports and a bit of shopping. If you are looking at visiting the area in the future, here are 10 of my favourite things to do in Cap-Breton & Hossegor.   TAKE A 5-DAYS SURFING COURSE Steve, Mila and I had surfed before in Devon and Biscarosse but it was a new thing for Elodie and Lily and they both loved it. We did our course at the Cactus Surf School in Cap-Breton and I can’t …
