Using dark hues in the bedroom

I keep being asked what shade of paint I used on the wall of our bedroom in France. I used Down Pipe by Farrow & Ball which is a deep dark grey. I initially used the estate emulsion which has a lovely chalky finish but it shows marks a lot more. So over the past few years, I’ve freshened up our walls with the modern emulsion which has a low sheen and most importantly is waterproof.

A soothing bedroom in hues of greys & blues…

I wish you all a very nice, relaxing weekend and leave you with the bedroom of my friend Gabrielle (see the house tour here) which was featured…

20 useful, must-know tips to look after your linens & other favourite pieces of clothing

This is a post dedicated to my sister Elodie (who you know I adore) and to anyone who has wrecked some of their beloved pieces in the washing-machine. Before going skiing last month, I attended the launch of the new Miele W1 washing-machine which was quite something and very interesting, considering we are talking about the launch of a washing-machine…So on the back of this and with Miele‘s help, I’ve put together a few tips and reminders to help you to make the clothes and bed linens you love last.Miele may not be cheapest brand on the market but it is one that will last you a lifetime and I learnt at the launch that it is still a family business ❤️. Their new W1 laundry range has some amazing features (read here) and it’s like SMEG or the Vipp kitchen (see my post here), if you can…get the best you can afford. And of course the big question is….Do you really know your labels? To be honest, there were quite a few I had no idea what they meant so I’ve asked Miele to send …

Our linen collection has arrived…

We have finally received the beautiful linen collection we ordered last January, yeah…!!Our best-selling blue grey stonewashed linen duvet cover that graced the front cover of our Summer catalogue is now back in stock and so is the light grey duvet cover which I really love because it is a very soothing hue and it looks beautiful with white or dark grey pillow cases. In the new SS/2013 collection, the mustard has been replaced by the curry duvet cover and we’ve added lots of new bright and uplifting colours in yellow, orange and blush. Bedroom masterplan

Since I’ve been styling our stonewashed linen collection in our guest room (above) for our SS/2012 catalogue, I have been dying to re-decorate our own bedroom. When we moved in, a couple of years ago, my first call of action was to paint the magnolia walls and wardrobe in white except the wall behind our bed which I painted in light grey (Pavilion Gray from Farrow & Ball).

Inspiring (clearing) Sunday….

For the past few weeks, I have been de-cluttering our home like crazy.  One cupboard after another, room by room, I am diligently going through everything and I can’t tell you how good this feels.  Sometimes when things get too much (and I mean too busy), something has to give in so I’m streamlining our ‘family procedures’, the way I would have done it at work :-) Today, I’m tackling my Macbook and I found these pictures I took of Lily and Mila in our holiday home in France. The pendant light is the large one by Kathleen Hills, Lily wears our new blue grey linen apron and Mila wears the vintage pink linen apron (more colours for kids and grown-ups here). Have a great Sunday xoxo http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
