Last week, I flew back to London with François to style a Summer shot for DFS in Seasalter, Kent. The shooting location was a beach house called The Battery, located on the coast of North Kent and it was just such an amazing space. The Battery was built in 1874 for the Royal Naval Reserve as a base for target practice with gunners firing out to sea and it was used later on as a holiday camp for children. Marilyn, the owner, told me that she still get pensioners who spent their childhood in this place, coming to visit and apparently it hasn’t changed. I certainly believe that.The Battery was like a time capsule and had an amazing, happy vibe to it. I really love the place and I would have been quite happy to hang out there a weekend watching the sea. Sadly, Marilyn doesn’t do B&B but she runs occasional workshops to teach painting to beginners and most recently beads. She is soon off to Africa to teach Masai how to look after their beads so …
