Off-the-shoulder dress

I love off-the-shoulder dresses or tops! I, like many women, could write a long list of things I don’t like about my body… However, I’m working on A-DO-RING (yes adoring not just loving) my body. So I will focus on the two things I like I find sexy and that is my shoulders and collar line. It is important to focus on the positive. There is always something positive about our bodies. This is why I always ask women who contact me to photograph them, what part of their body they love the most. They often love just one or two things about themselves. However, I see so much beauty in them. In their expressions, their smile, their energy, their personality and that’s really what I’m trying to bring out in all my portraits…but I digress. 16 years of classical ballet has given me a decent posture and the recent daily workout during lockdown has given me back a bit of arms definition. So I thought I would treat myself with a gown that would enhance the …

Organic Basics - Basically better made

Organic Basics – Basically better made

Have you heard of Organic Basics before? It’s a Danish brand created in 2015 which designs and produces sustainable, better made basics. Like me, they think fashion produces too much waste and that there is a better way of doing things, of consuming things and enjoying fashion. In the case of Organic Basics, that means better fabrics and basics like t-shirts, socks and underwear that last longer. It’s a no brainer I think. You can also trust the Danes to come up with some fantastic branding and packaging to deliver the message in style. Isn’t this soft pink packaging gorgeous!? I love the colour so much that I think I’m gonna recycle it and re-use it to store things. With its big white logo on brown padded envelope, the Arket mail order packaging is pretty cool too. I’ve ordered the organic complete pack which includes 2 briefs, 1 pretty triangle bra and 1 basic soft t-shirt. They currently have some Christmas packs for her here and for men here. I had a full on day dealing with …

Natural leather slides for the Summer

Natural leather slides for the Summer

I’m so ready for the Summer… Straw hat in hand and these beautiful slides on my feet… They are from Protest, a surfing brand from The Netherlands. I have to say that they are very comfy, look great with pretty much everything and are SO inexpensive! Check them out HERE! Plus I really like the natural colour, don’t you!? The other pair of slides I love are these from Isabel Marant but of course, not quite the same budget or style and these rope sliders from Topshop Since “someone” in our household was a bit grumpy on Mother’s Day, I treated myself to these fab Soludos platform wedge sandals which I found on Nordstrom after extensive online research. Let me know if you find a pair you love xoxo SHOP THE STORY:

Timeless clothes for kids 10 (C) Karine Kong Photography

Timeless clothes for kids

Don’t you love simple, timeless fashion for kids? When we were little, my sister and I wore a lot of pretty, timeless clothes that we both kept for the girls. My mum used to also sew some of them based on models from Bonton and Cyrillus. Sadly, I didn’t have my mum’s sewing skills when I became a mum, but I relished finding pretty dresses and tops for Mila. A few days ago, our family caught with Dee and her family to have dinner at the beach. Dee is the co-Founder and Designer Une Belle Epoque, an independent kids fashion brand that has the most gorgeous collection of simple, timeless clothes for children. While Dee is from South Africa, her collection feels very French and the kind of beautiful, simple pieces I would love Mila to wear. I managed to capture a few shots of the girls before it got too dark… Limi (left) wears a Can Can top and trousers from Une Belle Epoque and brown Salt-Water sandals,  Claya (middle) wears a dress from the new collection (please contact Dee for details) and navy …

10 pretty summer white dresses in the sale

My top 10 fav’ summer white dresses

In Summer time, while I tend to live in denim shorts & white tee during the day…at night, I love nothing more than wearing a maxi or midi white cotton dress with a pair of flat sandals and I tend to stock up on them, to be honest. It’s an easy, effortless, stylish look and white is great to show off your tan no matter your skin tone. Mango is usually a good place to find a Summer white dress with a  bohemian feel. Street markets are also a great place to source some unique designs. I’ve found some real gems in the market near my holidays home and if you come to the Bay of Arcachon, let me know and I will give you some details. So far, my favourite this year is this Magnolia dress from Hush which happens to be in the sale! I love the fabric which feels a bit like linen and it has a beautiful, flattering cut. If you have a small upper body like mine but curves around the hips, it’s perfect. …

denim shorts & white tee: #outfitperfection

Denim shorts & white t-shirt

#denim shorts love I photographed several girls in denim shorts and swimwear for the People from the Sea series while I was in Bali included Katia below and I had such a good feeling with her that we ended up shooting twice together. Below are a few images of our second photoshoot in Canggu. One look that I absolutely love on holidays, if not, the only one is the combo of denim shorts & white t-shirt. Simple, basic, effortless…a good old pair of denim shorts is basically all you need on holidays…ok that and maybe a nice boho dress like this one from Rachel Zoe currently 70 % OFF and this dreamy Stella McCartney maxi dress. Granted it really depends on where you’re are off to for your holidays but for a laid-back place like Bali, frankly, you really don’t need to pack much. It’s hot there. Even when it rains, it’s hot and I lived in my two pairs of denim shorts during our whole vacations updating my outfits with light cotton tops like this one from Numero …

My top 5 Message t-shirts of this season

My top 5 Message t-shirts of this season

Alice, who I photographed last week, wears the “Females of the future” t-shirt from Topshop I got for Mila last time I was in London. Mila is getting at the age where she is borrowing more and more from my wardrobe and personally, I don’t feel ready to hang out my Converse, Stan Smith or cool sweatshirts anytime soon so size (and stains!) permitting, we are starting to get a bit of crossover in the fashion department. Since I did a round-up of my favourite message sweatshirts last week, I thought I would treat you with my current favourite message t-shirts ;-) My top 5 message t-shirts are: This “Afraid of Nothing” tee which is reflecting my current state of mind, “I’m the Boss” tee-shirt which cracks me up, This “Keep it simple” tee which is how I roll This “Palm Beach” t-shirt for its 70s vibe and this “The Future is Unwritten” t-shirt because we can make our own destiny And I’ve added a few more + some cool sweatshirts I spotted below. Which one do you like the most? //Photography: Karine Köng …
