The home I grew up in…

What do you love the most about your home? For me, it’s first the people who live in it but it’s also the memories we have as a family….Mila’s Mustache Birthday party when she was 6  and her pink party when she 7, when we got Lucas…an astonishing, to a die-for ball of fur who proceeded to wreck my vintage fur jacket, chewed my brand new Swedish Hasbeens and a few other things. When MILK magazine came to shoot our home …we had had so many photo shoots since then. It’s the weekends where we make pancakes for breakfast, pretty much every weekend except on Pancake Day….Something my mum was doing in the home I grew up in and a tradition I carried out for Mila… It’s Steve’s amazing Kiwi roast on Sunday with friends around and then curling up on the sofa to watch a family movie together with a bowl of soup in front of the TV because we’ve eaten so much! It’s the mornings when Mila was younger and jumped on our bed…. So when Hiscox asked me to write a piece for …

5 inspiring white workspaces

Our renovations are still going smoothly… What used to be a terrace on the 2nd floor that nobody used, has now been converted into a light, airy contemporary home office and like the loft conversion, I think it’s going to be an amazing room filled with natural light. The room is being plastered today except this small brick wall which I managed to save and we are putting floorboards to be painted in white. Considering the scale of the project, I’m still amazed by how everything is running smoothly… Major credits to the kiwi who, not only does an amazing job, project managing the whole thing (check hashtag bodieandfourenovations on Instagram) but also to the amazing builders we have on site. I will happily share their details at the end of the project. I feel very lucky and grateful. It’s our third renovation work and we worked with “cowboys” in the past which made the whole thing a lot more stressful! So yes the house is a major building site, out of 3 floors, only one room is habitable but …

10 things you need to create an inspiring workspace

Creating inspiring workspaces is one of my favourite things… I simply can’t function properly in a working space that doesn’t inspire me, it’s just simple as that! We are very lucky now that our offices are actually based in a beautiful, industrial space where I could easily move in and turn it into a loft (if that was ever an option) but it wasn’t always the case. The first years of running the business, we had some pretty shitty workspaces with no heat etc. and the only way I found myself coping with my surrounding environments was to create a little, inspiring corner to focus on. So here are a few of my tips which you could put into practice this weekend or next week. 1/ Find yourself a wall And use it as your blank canvas to create a moodboard, a backdrop that will inspire you. Facing a wall may be seen as not very social (but who cares!?), it’s about creating your own little corner of inspiration so when you turn around to …

The BODIE and FOU SS/2013 catalogue has landed!

I’m proud to say that our latest catalogue has landed on our UK customers’ doorsteps today!  If you haven’t received a copy you can request one here before we run out. This means that I can finally show you the inspiring workspace I styled in our new offices and which is one of my favourite ones.  Doesn’t this KNOT chair look amazing!? The white table is also new and can double-up as a desk or dining table and I love these Bamboo lamps and this natural basket which is fast-becoming our best-seller! Well I love everything about our new collection… I’m beaming with proud and I wish I could jump with joy but after a week fighting the flu and then a viral stomach bug, I can hardly stand up which is hugely frustrating but I really hope you will enjoy it.  Please let me know….It’s always very rewarding to get your feedback xoxo http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

Latest styling job | B&W workspace

First of all, a BIG thank you for all your messages and chats on Twitter and Instagram when I was ill these last few days. Being sick is incredibly boring and it was a lot more entertaining to chat to some of you rather than be alone in bed (there is so much TV one can watch in one day!). I’m still not 100% and woke up last night at 3am, then 5am and 6am so I doubt I’ll be very alert today but I’ll try. The second image is the one I initially styled for the workspace spread of our new SS/2013 catalogue (out next Friday) to show you how you can create a nice, inspiring monochrome home office easily (see get the look below). In the end we didn’t use it. I wanted our new catalogue to be even more beautiful and inspiring than the previous ones and this shot didn’t have enough of a WOW factor for me.I felt it was again a monochrome theme like the one I had styled for the previous catalogue (photo 3) …

My style, that daybed, our office move….

I’m so happy to have found this gorgeous photos on Temp*files. It is exactly what I had in mind for the vintage army bed I got from one of my sponsors Chez Les Voisins last summer for our holiday home in France .Between wallpapering our bedroom and well..enjoying our holidays at the beach, I didn’t get around to take decent photos, well not as good the one Claude took on Temp*files anyway, so this one is perfect. I spotted two of them in Isabel Marant’s flat in Paris on Refinery29, mine will end up either in Mila’s room or in our tree house for afternoon naps up in the air.On a completely different subject, we found new offices for BODIE and FOU!!!!Thanks to Viktoria who reads this blog and is a regular customer of BODIE and FOU (thank you so much Viktoria!), we are moving in with Bombay Duck in Acton. So this is the perfect time to put all these inspiring workspaces I collected on Pinterest or the ones I wrote about here including Isabel Marant’s workspace to good use and come up with something really nice. Our new offices are gorgeous – think original …

In search of inspiring workspaces

The lease  of our offices is up for renewal in March and I have been informed by the management company that the rent would increase by 12% which is really high given the economic climates so I’m now searching for new, inspiring, affordable offices in West London to keep our options open. It’s a real shame because we have been very happy in our current offices. We are blessed with a huge amount of natural light and our unit has great white brick walls, NYC loft style…. For having operated from ‘not so inspiring’ premises in the first years of the business, I know how important it is for the spirit and the well-being of your team (and yourself!!) to have a nice, working environment so I’m on a mission to find a workspace that will feel like home. If you hear of anything, office/light industrial spaces available or large spaces at ground level (for deliveries), forgotten shops  that we could turn into a concept store, let me know…. We are after 850 sq ft …
