I have been dreaming about a grey sofa for our home in France since 2013 (see blog post then) for our 8 years old Ikea sofa, which is surprisingly still very comfy so I’m getting a new cover done by Bemz. If you are not familiar with Bemz, I think it’s one of the smartest concept created in these last few years.
They basically make covers for anything designed by Ikea so if you are tired of your old sofa like I am, but don’t want to splash out on a new one quite yet, Bemz can make a brand new cover for you and they have nicer fabrics than Ikea.
Point in case, Jennifer from A Merry Mishap recently recovered her Karlstad armchair using stonewashed linen and I can’t believe how gorgeous this ordinary armchair has been transformed. It almost looks like the Ghost armchair designed by Paola Navone.
I have the Ghost sofa in our home in London which is gorgeous and comfortable but obviously not the same price tag than an Ikea sofa so I’m amazed how good this chair looks….very inspiring! What do you think?

Bell réussite by BEMZ <3 fan!!
Mais je n'ai plus de canapé IKEA depuis longtemps ;)
Hy Carine, I also own a ikea sofa (the cheapest one, a klippan 4seater) i still like it, it’s comfortable, clearshaped, …. but i often thought about to do a new clothe for it. To do my own would be a bit too difficult but i think i BEMZ is the reason! Thanks for that TIPP!!!! Really good idea. best wishes.
@lau ils font des trucs super sympas et j’aime les idées business intelligentes :-)
@Ursula I’m so glad you found this post useful! It’s an a very clever concept isn’t it!? You will have to let me know once you’ve ordered yours, would love to see the new look
I already ordered fabric samples and can’t wait to get them! Ofcourse i’ll tell you my choice! have a beautiful day :)
Another great idea:-) Have also had hard time finding replacement for old Ektorp sofas- I love Ghost, in spite of price tag- husband doesn’t- so have been trying out various Ikea solutions but ended up returning to shop as either to dark or just not nice. Happily ordered my free samples from Bemz to try out!
Perhaps you’ll have Blog inspiration in a while showing all our new,old sofas
@LENE ESTVAD CHRISTOFFERSEN I look forward to seeing your revamp :-)
Funny you should mention Bemz, I am currently looking at ‘transforming’ our Ikea sofa into something resembling Ghost (my sofa dream) And I agree, such a clever concept. The armchair looks loooovely.
And thank you for your looooovely blog and for sharing your ideas and insights.
Xx
A very smart consept! I am also wondering if you know where the beautiful lamp is from? I think I am in love with that, hehe… And the chair ofcourse ;0)

As a huge reading fan, that armchair next to the window is a perfect addition. Also I like the lamp hanging above it. Cool room update!
