How I take a day off from work without feeling guilty

White stonewashed linen

I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday.
I have been nursing a sore throat since I came back from London and it was also the ‘2-year anniversary’ date since my dad died so I decided to take it easy. How & why I take care of myself & will take a day off without feeling guilty

Being gentle with myself and learning when it’s time to slow down is something I’ve learnt the hard way these past few years.

The biggest warning I received, was when I got hit by depression four years ago.
To these days, I’m hugely grateful it had happened to me and that was also, able to recover from it and move on.

Nowadays, I pay attention to what I eat, drink, how I sleep and how much stress there is my life and I make regular adjustments (see my articles on well-being).
So I don’t feel guilty when I take a day off watching Netflix because I know that, once I feel better, I will catch up on all the things I need to do.White stonewashed linenI had this little ball of fur to keep me company: Lou the Bunny.
I’m not exactly sure how to translate its breed (maybe Angora) but in French, it’s a “Lapin Nounours”.
Lou is incredibly sweet and soft and the perfect antidote for a down day.

For those interested, our white stonewashed linen bedding is from the Brisa Collection by MADE.

I hear you, looking forward to recharging my energy too. Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Looking forward to the house tour post you’re working on! x

I’m so glad you are feeling better. I also have to ‘manage’ depression and it is so hard when you are feeling below par to do the right things to bring your mood into control. I long for a day off like that at the moment! I also take on too much at this time of year and I’ve kind of burnt myself out. Love Lou the bunny, so so cute!

    • Yes it can be a tricky balance and I know that if for instance, I eat more junk food and sugars than usual (which is rare these days), it affects my mood negatively but its important we force ourselves to slow down or do nothing just for a day because no-one is going to do it for us

  3. You are so right. It is something we all need to do without feeling guilty and I am trying so hard to have guilt free me time. Hugs to you, I know how hard anniversaries are 😘
