A fab minimalist Airbnb on the Mexican coast

Casa Tiny on the Mexican coast

There are quite a few things that get me excited in the world of interiors… a concrete floor, black cladding, little rustic cabins or architectural houses surrounded by nature and minimalist design are all things that I find extremely pleasing. As such Casa Tiny located on the Mexican coast ticks several of my boxes with the added value that you can book it on Airbnb! So if you are planning to travel to Mexico, make sure to bookmark it. Until then, let’s have a look at this little gem… Inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden”, Casa Tiny is a place to escape from society, enjoy a simple life for a couple of days, a week or a month in this minimal, low-impact, isolated abode. Ideal for people looking for a remote place to escape the city, casa tiny has everything you would want: a large big table outside to eat with friends, a hammock to enjoy your favourite book, a pool, a pizza oven and a private beach nearby.  Not far from the striking Casa …

A beautiful Airbnb in Greece

Kalimera! A beautiful home in Greece

Greece is one of those travel destinations that ticks many boxes in my book…I love Mediterranean food and I’m quite happy to eat grilled fish, fresh salads with feta cheese and eggplants at each meal providing I don’t have to cook. The landscape in Greece is also very beautiful and as a white interiors lover, those little white houses with gorgeous blue accents scream Summer to me. Greece is also still reasonably affordable as a holiday destination. This home, located in Nisyros, a small volcanic Greek island located in the Aegean Sea between Kos and Tilos was built in 1850. Recently converted into two independent luxury apartments, it was restored by ADarchitects using only eco-friendly primary materials such as the local black volcanic stone of the island, that gives the house its special character. White on white looks always stylish, clean and inviting which is always a great thing for a holiday home. The kitchen combines modern, clean lines with rustic touches. Playing smooth materials against finishes with more textures as seen here with the pendant light and the …

Elodie's gorgeous & cosy Parisian flat

Elodie’s gorgeous Parisian flat

A couple of weeks ago, fresh from returning from San-Francisco, I then headed to Paris to take back my niece Lily after she had spent the holidays with us in the Bay of Arcachon. While I’m still finding my marks, this unplanned ‘gap year’ in France has been fantastic to see more of my family and old friends. I love staying in my sister’s flat. It is such a cosy, beautiful space with a real feel-good, happy vibe to it yet, the happy vibe was not a given… Elodie got the key for her new home the day our dad left us. She had spent the morning unpacking and decided to have a nap and I think, she had just woken up when I called her to announce her the bad news. After several challenging months where Life was just throwing lemons at her, it was one bad news too many but I kept telling her it didn’t matter. This was the place for her, the place she would call home and feel happy no matter what so credit to her for turning …

20 of the best San Francisco airbnb rentals

It’s funny how each of my travel photos on Instagram seem to be driven by a specific colour depending on where I go. Croatia last year was a mixed of dark blue and natural hues, Portugal in February was a celebration of pale blue and white, San-Francisco last week was an hymn to soft pink and soothing pastels and I can’t tell you how much I loved it!

Weekend away by the sea, Airbnb, France, Atlantic Coast, Bay of Arcachon

Weekend away in the Bay of Arcachon

It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful the Bay of Arcachon is, even in Winter. Last weekend, the weather was just glorious and so mild for November, it felt like a gift.

How to tell your Airbnb guests about the toilet?

I know… the last thing you were expecting me to write about was toilet but bear with me :-) I’m off to Paris next week to attend the Airbnb conference where I will be part of the Expert panel to share tips and advices on how to style your home, promote it via social media and get positive reviews.

Our Tadelakt bathroom | Renovations. Interior Design Project by Karine Candice Kong Read on www.karinecandicekong.com

Our tadelakt bathroom

One of the projects I most proud of out of all the things we achieved with our house renovations (loft conversion, new kitchen, the resin floor) is our Tadelakt bathroom. It’s a material I have been wanted to use for years because it looks and feels like polished concrete and the results achieved really exceeded my expectations. If you’re not familiar with this material, Tadelakt is a unique waterproof plaster finish originally from ancient Morocco. It was initially used by the Berbers to waterproof earthen cisterns for the hygienic storage of drinking water and later on, it was used to decorate exterior façades, manufacture small drinking vessels. If you’ve been to Morocco, you’ve probably seen it in public bathing houses and bathrooms. The thing I love the most about Tadelakt is, how smooth it feels. While we used gorgeous grey tiles from Castelnau Tiles in the new loft conversion, I was eager to try something different to achieve a clean, contemporary look with our master bathroom. Following your feedback on Instagram, I have put a few details but if you have any questions, just leave …
