30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 8 Update

(C) Photography: Jean-François Jonvelle | Model: Lulu Well, this afternoon was challenging. After a healthy breakfast and lunch, a chocolate craving came out of nowhere and tried to tempt me.  For an hour, I was really in turmoil (and chocoholics like me will know that it can be a real struggle).  A part of me kept saying “come on, you can have some, just a little”, the other part was saying “no resist, it will pass…” It didn’t pass, I spent an hour trying to convince myself that I could get away with it and straight after that no, really…I shouldn’t do it. Giving up smoking in my nightie in the supermarket was a walk in the park in comparison to giving up chocolate! I know, some of you will think denial is not good, I should allow myself a bit of chocolate, blabla and yes I agree. I would have indulged a bit if I hadn’t had a few slices of the chocolate cake over the weekend but indulging again 2 days later, I …

Via The Poetry of Material Things (cool Tumblr by the way). It’s where I found this gorgeous guy How are you today??? Personally, I’m feeling really great. My body is a lot stronger, leaner and I can see some improvement around my waist.  I also felt very proud yesterday to overcome the negative feelings to go to the class because it turned out to be a great class.  Right..this morning was measurement day today and it looks like I’ve lost about 1 cm all around. YEAH TO THAT! 30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 7

Photo via Fit Happy peace OK she is stunning but I need extra motivation today! It’s interesting how easily a party can throw you off the wagon…So much for buying two small bottles of wine to track my alcohol intake. I had bought two small bottles for our BBQ party and in the heat of the evening, I drank both. I also enjoyed all the gorgeous food Steve and I prepared for our BBQ: Kale salad with chia seeds + roast + sweet potatoes + sweet couscous* + gluten-free chocolate coconut brownie.Sunday wasn’t better (no worse but no better) so this morning I was a bit in a bad mood and stressed out which I think was a combination of the house being messy whereas we have a photo shoot at home tomorrow with Ryland Peters & Small, an important meeting to prepare and the feeling that I let myself down food wise.Saying that, I don’t believe one-day off the wagon ruins everything, it’s more one day off after another after another…So despite feeling in a bad mood, I forced myself to go …

30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 6

Have a day t-shirt from Rebel Yell (sold out!) Yeah!!! 6 days completed – 24 days to go!  Tomorrow is my day off as the challenge is to complete 30 days of practice in 35 days and I can’t tell you how happy I am. I thought as an incentive, I would mark each week with a non-foodie treat and was contemplating a spray tan but my body is in need of a massage. Overall, I’m feeling pretty good. My body is a bit tired but nothing major and my mind is still very focused on the final goal.  A few good things I noticed… Day after day, I’m building good habits with my diet…I’ve always been an emotional eater (like a lot of us I think). I’m stressed, I eat. I’m tired, I eat. I’m sad, I eat and even when I’m happy, I eat and when I say I eat, I mean junk food, carbs, chocolates. However, after practising yoga, the last thing I want to do is feeding my body with junk …

30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 5

Another practice at 6.30am and….I’m dead. While I was up bright & early yesterday morning, today I was very sleepy, my body was tired, my lower spin stiffed so it wasn’t an impressive class on my behalf but that’s ok. Every class is different and I may do wonder tomorrow.  The good thing is that I start seeing positive results around my stomach. I have decided, I will not weight myself during the whole 30-day challenge and just look at my measurements each week. The reason is that in the past, while I could see I was trimming down, the figure on the scales didn’t always show the progress (water retention, premenstrual, stress) and it was very disheartening so I’m just going to trust the process for the next 30 days and weight myself at the end of the month. Until then, I’ll just focus on one day at the time, doing my challenge and eating healthily. Breakfast: 150g St Helen Goat Yogurt and 120g of blueberries Morning Snack: banana Afternoon Snack: 2 nectarines + plenty of water throughout the day …

30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 4

Photo: North I have too much on today so I went to my Bikram class at 6.30 am today and you know what? It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. There were a lot less people in the room which made the heat more bearable and I feel quite content now that it’s out of the way and I don’t have to think about it for the rest of the day…Food for thought Breakfast: 1 glass of lukewarm water + lemon on an empty stomach (good for digestion) + 150g St Helen Goat Yogurt and 120g of blueberries Morning Snack: banana Afternoon Snack: 2 nectarines + plenty of water throughout the day Lunch  I’m catching up with an old friend from Universal Music today so it will be sushi1 Diner: Nicole from Grey heart suggested a nice recipe with asparagus last night on IG so tonight it will be  asparagus with roasted cashew nuts, lemon juice, garlic, salt & pepper. Have a great day! http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 2

How are you this morning?I’m feeling very inspired by this photo to get mine/our flat tummies back!! I know mine seems to wander off each time I eat carbs and gluten but a week of healthy eating & bikram should help me to come closer to my goal and hopefully yours.Make sure you take your body measurements in the morning to compare them in a week time so you can see the difference as sometimes the scales are not accurateI’m very pleased to hear that Simone (Style Life Home) from Australia and Justine in France (the talented designer behind Une Sardine à Rio) are joining me in my 30-day Bikram yoga challenge*Measurements:Waist: 71 cmStomach: 82 cmThigh: 55.5 cmArm: 30.5cmHave a fab day! xoxo  Breakfast: 1 large glass of fresh orange juice + 150g St Helen Goat Yogurt and 120g of blueberries Morning Snack: banana Afternoon Snack: 2 nectarines + plenty of water throughout the day Lunch: Spicy Kings prawns salad with bulgur wheat (see full recipe here) Super easy & quick to make and delicious! 30-day Birkram Yoga challenge | DAY 1

I’M BACK!!  Jet-lagged, tired, with sore feet (they’ve walked a lot!) but very happy! The weather in NYC was amazing and if you’ve missed my updates, you can check them out on Instagram It was my fourth time in Manhattan and like the other times, I absolutely loved it and would go back in a heart beat. I’ll put a post together for you this week to tell you about all the inspiring cafes and shops I visited but first thing first!   Yesterday, after arriving in London, feeling jet-lagged and out of shape let’s face it, I thought it would be a great idea to kick off my return with a 30-day Bikram yoga challenge in 35 days*to put my mind and body back on track. I mean, regardless of the weather in London, Summer is around the corner and I don’t intent to waste another 2 months getting my figure back.    Given how I struggled to wake up this morning, I’m not sure it was such a great idea but nevermind…I’ve shared it …
