Christmas styling table with Portmeirion

Grey & white Christmas styling table

Have you planned your table settings for Christmas yet? If you haven’t, maybe you are in for some inspiration. This year, my table setting is in soft grey, white, black with a touch of green and I’ve used the beautiful Spode Pure Morris tableware which can be mixed and matched. William Morris designs are timeless. His work can be admired at the William Morris gallery in East London and earlier this year, H&M released a beautiful collection bearing his prints (there are some pieces left here). My aim was to bring together William Morris’ classic designs and a modern, table setting to create an inviting and beautiful Christmas dinner table. Tableware To create a stylish table, I first used the large 11-inch plates with the Strawberry Thief design as the base, then add the pasta bowls and these cereal bowls that I will be using for serving soup. If you already have plain white plates at home, these are perfect to complement your existing tableware. I also added these beautiful Droplet red wine glasses which I love. I’m not sure the picture does any …

How to make your own advent calendar

How to make your own advent calendar

I know that all children (including Mila) are eagerly waiting to open their advent calendar and get a little treat before going to school. This year, I’ve made our own advent calendar with plain white matchboxes and hung them with Command Brand transparent plastic hooks. Both can easily be found on Amazon. These Command™ Clear Decorating Clips hooks are fantastic to hang Christmas decorations without damaging your walls. I also use them on styling projects, to hang garlands in Mila’ bedroom or for her birthday party. The other thing I use a lot all year long is their picture hanging strips. I think is worth mentioning this article again because I regularly see people on Instagram asking how they can hang picture frames without drilling into their walls. Each time I’m like “Command Brand people, Command Brand!” (please read it if you haven’t done so, you will thank me). Once you have everything listed below, it should not take you more than 20 minutes to make your own advent calendar. To make this advent calendar, you will …

5 special Christmas moments

The few weeks leading to Christmas are the perfect time to build special memories for our children (if you have any) and family members. The kind of memories they will cherish for years to come and maybe pass on. In the past few years, I have tried to be more organised to make sure that Christmas is indeed a special and not a stressful time… {Planning the look of your Christmas table ahead} This year, I wanted to create a very soothing look and introduce textures, warmth and simplicity around a natural palette of off-white, brown and greys. I paired a vintage textured cotton tablecloth with some beautiful linen napkins and these simple but gorgeous Artisan plates from The White Company. For the final touch, I decorated the table with some timeless and stylish glass candle holders and grey candles, which I will be able to use throughout the seasons. “When it comes to styling your table, have as many candle holders as you can afford and mix and match sizes. A cluster will always create more of a WOW …

CHRISTMAS STYLING TIPS 01 | DECORATING WITH WASHI TAPES

I constantly used washi tapes at home to create mood boards and at work when I style shots. As mentioned in this post, unlike blue tack, masking tapes don’t stain your walls so they are perfect if you are renting or flat-sharing. Since Christmas is around the corner, I have done a round-up of the best things I’ve seen to inspire you and the great thing is that you can also get the kids involved.
