Limited edition: The CH23 chair BY Carl Hansen & Son

Limited edition: The CH23 chair BY Carl Hansen & Son

I’m back from a girls weekend in Marrakech (which was so good on so many levels!) and I have to admit that after spending days in the souk surrounded by beautiful woven baskets and shades, hand carved wooden home accessories & furniture, the natural look is really high up in my mind to revamp our home in France. So when I received the press release from Carl Hansen & Son in my inbox, their re-edition of the CH23 chair caught my eye… Unveiled in 1950, the CH23 chair was one of the first four pieces, Hans J. Wegner created exclusively for Carl Hansen & Son. After decades out of production, the CH23 will become available on 16 June, and all pieces sold on this date will be engraved with the designer’s signature and the reissue date. The chair is available in three finishes (black, soap oak and walnut oak) but I’m particularly fond of the soap oak finish (above) for its light, natural look. We are in need of new chairs in our home and I can see how wonderful the …

Simple lighting for your home

Simple lighting for your home

I just finished a long interview for As You Like magazine (out in Feb 2017) which is dedicated to Digital Influencers and Bloggers and one of the questions about my home was why it was so white… White interiors and simple, beautiful white objects calm me down… As an Aries, I have often been told that red is my colour but frankly, I couldn’t think of a least appropriated colour for me. I thrive on white minimalist, uncluttered, simple interiors and as it’s busy enough in my head, I really don’t need more stimulation :-) Anyone else feeling like this!!?? This Suspence nomad lamp designed by GamFratesi has the same calming effect and would look perfectly at home in our dining room, should I be in the market for a new light but maybe you are… GamFratesi is a design duo formed in 2006 and consists of the Danish architect Stine Gam and the Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. Both thrive on Scandinavian functionalism and draw their inspiration from both classic Danish design and the tradition of craftsmanship and the classic Italian intellectual and …

Handvark- Jury Découvertes Maison & Objet

Handvärk: “Jury Découvertes” Award at M&O

Paris is always a good idea and if you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I was there last week… I had the chance to be invited by the prestigious Maison & Objet to discern an Award to the design or Designer of my choice. It’s a great thing to receive an Award but it’s also a great feeling to be able to give an Award to someone and spread a bit of happiness around. I saw a lot of beautiful designs at Maison & Objet … Pretty things that strike a chord, others that impressed me and some that would have loved to have in my home. In the end, I decided to give the Award to Designer Emil Thorup and Handvärk for their gorgeous marble coffee table 90. Imagine my joy when I found out the company was only 12 months old! As much as I love the likes of Menu, Vitra and & Tradition, it’s a great feeling to award new, upcoming Designers where talent is so obvious. Made of 4 pieces of white marble with a steel frame, the coffee table 90 by HANDVÄRK seduces me …

A Scandinavian home with large windows & lots of natural light

A Scandinavian home with large windows & lots of natural light

I have a soft home for homes with large windows and lots of natural light and this Danish home designed by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn doesn’t disappoint. Bjerre-Poulsen and Rønn are also the Founders of Norm. Architects, a design practice I often featured on the blog here. Drawing their inspiration from Danish tradition, craftsmanship, and aesthetics, everything they design, from commercial and residential interiors to furniture and home accessories, is a feast for the eyes. Being mostly drawn to white interiors, I really wanted to share with you the Fredensborg home, a home they recently finished designing and which is located about 30kms north of Copenhagen.  The house is built on five low levels using natural material like stone and wood, which accentuates the feeling that everything flows from one room to another effortlessly… With its large windows in all the room, the house benefits from natural light from various corners. The rubber basket above is made from recycling tires and adds a visual accent to an all-white interior. // Photography: Norm. Architects | All Rights Reserved

5 inspiring white workspaces

Our renovations are still going smoothly… What used to be a terrace on the 2nd floor that nobody used, has now been converted into a light, airy contemporary home office and like the loft conversion, I think it’s going to be an amazing room filled with natural light. The room is being plastered today except this small brick wall which I managed to save and we are putting floorboards to be painted in white. Considering the scale of the project, I’m still amazed by how everything is running smoothly… Major credits to the kiwi who, not only does an amazing job, project managing the whole thing (check hashtag bodieandfourenovations on Instagram) but also to the amazing builders we have on site. I will happily share their details at the end of the project. I feel very lucky and grateful. It’s our third renovation work and we worked with “cowboys” in the past which made the whole thing a lot more stressful! So yes the house is a major building site, out of 3 floors, only one room is habitable but …

BODIE and FOU pop-up store at the Vipp flagship store

BODIE and FOU pop-up store at the Vipp flagship store

The BODIE and FOU pop-up store opened its doors at the inspiring Vipp flagship store in Copenhagen on Saturday and started on a high, with the visit of her H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark who purchased our Limited Edition BODIE and FOU x Vipp15 bin.  Pretty amazing, isn’t it?! I was there when she was in the shop and asked her if I could take a picture of her with our bin but due to protocol, she kindly declined. The event has been a success and there is now only a couple of bins left in the shop which you can reserve but they will only be available for collection from the Vipp flagship store. However, fear not, Vipp is starting a waiting list and the BODIE and FOU x Vipp bin will be available at the end of the pop-up store and you can also pre-order it online from us. The other great news is that we have an official press launch and a styling blogger competition where a team of international Bloggers will style a kitchen, bathroom and table using products from Vipp, …
