Weekend in London, things to do, things to see

10 cool things to do in London like a local

Steve and I have been travelled back and forth between London and France for a few months now while Mila is at school in France but it felt really good to be all back at the same time in our home in London. Catching up with friends, brunch, playdate, sleepover, pub, shopping, museum, we did it all and here are 10 things you can do in London like a local in one weekend (with kids!). 1/Have diner at the pub As you may know, we (French) take young children to restaurants kids, which is not very common in England, but as a result, she has learnt from a very young age to behave in a restaurant or public place. As a foodie, I think there is no better feeling than hanging out with our friends and their children in a warm pub in Winter, having a roast when it’s cold outside. Friday night, we went to The Duke of Sussex in Chiswick (10 min bus ride, great food & customer service!) but there are a few other nice gastro pubs in West London, all …

Weekend in London

We are back in London for the weekend, catching up with friends, soaking up the city’s wonderful vibes…and sadly temporary “escaping” more bad news. As Charlie Chaplin said: “Nothing in this world is permanent, not even our troubles” so I wait…I wait for the moment to pass, I wait for this year to end because I’m sincerely hoping that next year will be better and then we can create new, happy memories and I’m listening to “Shake it Off” loudly. Steve mentioned going on holidays in Sydney last night when we caught up with our friends who are currently living in Singapore and my heart skipped a beat…I would love that… Right now, the weather is mild and I’m happy we are back together in our home. Have a wonderful weekend guy!

BODIE and FOU at Design Junction

Design Junction 2015 kicked off last night to a great start although I’m not sure how much blogging I will manage during the next four days. I literally collapsed into my bed when I got home. This year, there are two venues: The College which is dedicated to bigger brands like Vitra, Hermann Miller, Ligne Roset etc. and Victoria House (where we are: stand V28), dedicated to pop-ups and independent designers. There are some pretty amazing stands and new designs to see. Design Junction is one of the most exciting design shows in Central London. Today, the show will close its doors at 9pm as the ELLE DECORATION VIP evening is on I’ll be there all day today and tomorrow, Clare will take over as ideal Home magazine is coming to shoot our new kitchen. And thank you, Moon Ray, for this lovely portrait… I’m off to prepare my lunch box…I had far too many glasses of Champagne last night and scotch eggs and I can feel that my body & energy level is not going to like it if I’m not …

KIN CAFE | LONDON

If you are after a great little café in West London that provides fresh, honest, healthy food, check out KIN. They have gorgeous, fresh salads and lucky me, they also have great gluten-free options. As I’m changing my whole lifestyle and eating habits, I’m currently in a “refined sugar free zone” which means that I have replaced refined sugar found in biscuits, processed food (anything coming with a packaging basically!) by natural sugar from fruits but I’m a foodie and their gluten-free chocolate and mandarin loaf cake sounds delicious! It’s a really nice space with lots of natural light and a great place to escape from the madness of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road if you are in the area shopping… The beautiful grey high-stools are from HabitatThe stools and tables were designed by Dean Edmonds and the tiles on the counter were bought from the Tile Studio in Putney but I also highly recommend Castlenau Tiles where I got the tiles from for our en-suite in our loft conversion (check #bodieandfourenovations on Instagram) // Photography: French & Tye

The Best places to see in London’s Columbia Road Flower market

Last month, I mentioned a photo shoot in Columbia Road Flower market for a feature in Time Out magazine, on creative people shopping at London’s best street markets. The article came out yesterday. I picked up a copy on my way to a business meeting and ended up smiling like an idiot in the train stopping myself from saying to complete strangers in the tube “Look! c’est moi là.” For botanists Columbia Road Flower Market Our market insider: Karine Candice Kong, Design Expert  When should you visit Columbia Road Flower Market? The Market starts at 8 am every Sunday and it’s best to get there as early as possible. It gets very busy if the weather is quite nice. It winds down about 3 pm. What do you head for? One of my favourite shops is Vintage Heaven at no 82 – it’s the perfect place to snap up vintage treasures. The Yard on Ezra street is a mini flea market that has some great things and is always worth a look. Rob Ryan makes intricate and …
