Being 52 this year, I have to admit it is the first time, I’m being self-conscious of my age. It never bothered me until now. It’s not even the number that bothers me. It’s seeing how my body ages in some areas. When it comes to skincare and make-up routines, I’m really on the low end of maintenance. I don’t wear a lot of make-up. A toner, day cream, and night cream were pretty much the only things I applied to my face for years and I was happy with that. I suspect that if you are around the same age, little by little you’ve noticed things are changing. At first, we don’t really care. The lines around the eyes are getting deeper but that’s OK. The skin on our legs seems to be dry all the time but who cares. Nobody does and you don’t until you DO care. At the moment, I’m in that zone, trying to come to terms with all these changes. I don’t know about you but I’ve always wanted to …
I’m a huge fan of AESOP and I love using this Primrose hydrating cream in the morning. Once I have finished the pot, I clean it and use it to store small things like elastic bands, rings, health supplements when I travel, etc. OLAPLEX Hair protector is a product Steve brought me back from Cult Beauty. Love, love, love that product. It makes my hair stronger and shinier. I came across THE ORDINARY range when I was looking for something to stop my skin from being so dry. I use the 100% organic Rose hip seed oil in the evening and alternate with the 100% organic cold-pressed Argan oil. KIEHL’S is one brand I always get at the airport. I recently bought a bottle of the amino acid shampoo after getting hold of a sample and refill the sample bottle each time I travel. How about you? Which one(s) are your current beauty favorites!? A few months ago, my skin got really really dry and unfortunately, dry skin makes me look old. Granted I’m no longer a Spring chicken but I’m not ready to retire yet so I vowed to look after myself and to take care of my skin to reverse the signs of ageing . If you’re interested in the subject, I recommend your read “Reverse the signs of ageing”: The revolutionary inside-out plan to glowing, youthful skin by Dr Nigma Talib
A couple of weeks ago, my sister Elodie and a bunch of girlfriends came down to the Bay of Arcachon for a girls weekend. I made this delicious chocolate zucchini cake twice and tried a new anti-inflammatory green juice. We ate good healthy food, laughed a lot and talked about food, sugar intake, clean eating, skincare, make-up, ageing gravefully and single motherhood (3 out of 5 in our group). We all came out of the weekend feeling energised and positive with so much to take from each other so I thought I would share with you all the skincare tips we exchanged.
