Inspirational words by William Saroyan

Let me share these inspirational words by William Saroyan to start the year. These beautiful words by William Saroyan have been wrongly attributed to Ernest Hemingway on Pinterest. Saroyan published them in a book called “The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze”. For those who never heard of William Saroyan, he was among the most reputed American writers of the early 20th century. He won a Pulitzer Prize, an Oscar, and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award. In his books, William Saroyan tells stories about the challenges and delights of rural America through the lens of life in the Central Valley of California. As Stephen Fry put it: “He is one of the most underrated writers of the century. He takes his place naturally alongside Hemingway, Steinbeck and Faulkner.” American Authors were my dad’s favorites. That’s all he read and he was reading a lot. He could easily go through 3 to 5 books a week. He used to have a mood board in his bedroom with pictures of all his favorite American Authors. What …

Be so good that people can't ignore you

Be undeniably good

I have been spending a lot of time with my camera these past few months. With progress comes compliments, inspiration, hopes and new dreams… It has been 8 months since I sold the e-shop. During these 8 months, I took the time to get my life back, to focus on doing things I love rather than things I had to do because I was running a business. I took time to re-kinkle with an old passion of mine and to start a new one like surfing. From surfing & photography, came a new creative project: People from the Sea and for the first time in 8 months, I feel inspired to look at a new entrepreneurial project. On my search to how to make it a success in “my next life”, I came across this quote from Steve Martin which was so simple and obvious that it hit me like a ton of bricks. Yes you need hard work, passion and the right attitude to make it happen but most of it, you need to become the best at what you do and focus …

45 life lessons by Regina Brett. Which one is your favorite?

45 life lessons you will love. Which one is your favorite?

At the beginning of the year, I always take great pleasure re-reading these 45 life lessons written by Regina Brett. If you haven’t read Regina Brett’s books, treat yourself to one right now here. She has published several books including 50 lessons for Life’s little detours, 50 lessons for finding fulfilling work and 50 lessons to find and hold onto happiness. #43 is my motto. I agree with #9. I love #12 (it is so true!) and I dedicate #19 to my mum who keeps every valuable gift for a special occasion, despite telling her to use it and enjoy it… Which are your favourite life lessons? Life isn’t fair but it is still good. When in doubt, just take the next small step Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does. Pay off your credit card every month. You don’t have to win every agreement. Agree to disagree. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone. Save for retirement, starting with your first paycheck. When …

10 inspiring quotes by Simone de Beauvoir

10 inspiring quotes by Simone de Beauvoir

10 inspiring quotes by Simone de Beauvoir about freedom of choice, love, compassion and being a woman… “One’s life has value so long as one attributes value to the life of others, by means of love, friendship, and compassion” “People seem to think that if you keep your head empty you automatically fill your balls.” The Mandarins “We will not let ourselves be intimidated by the number and violence of attacks against women; nor be fooled by the self-serving praise showered on the “real woman”; nor be won over by men’s enthusiasm for her destiny, a destiny they would not for the world want to share.” The Second Sex “I tried to love you less. I couldn’t.” The Mandarins “Being on the fringes of the world is not the best place for someone who intends to re-create it: here again, to go beyond the given, one must be deeply rooted in it. Personal accomplishments are almost impossible in human categories collectively kept in an inferior situation” “To lose confidence in one’s body is to lose confidence in …

{WISE WORDS} BALANCE

I’m so balanced these days you can call me Buddha… OK so yes, I’m entering my 4th week of not working out and not eating such a balanced diet and I’m ok with it. I’m OK with it because…

{WISE WORDS} FRIENDSHIP

Little piece of wisdom I’m trying to pass on to Mila…What best piece of advice have you been giving to your children? Nowadays kids are a lot more connected than we were at their age. As a Blogger, it would be difficult for me to prevent her from using social media but I’m trying to teach her to keep her feet on the ground and to connect with her own tribe so to speak….real friends, friends she shares an interest, people she can rely on. Funnily enough, when it comes to Mila owing a phone for instance, I’m super traditional. She hasn’t got one yet and I will postpone it as much as I can (I’m aiming for her 16 years old birthday) :-) How about you? How are you feeling about all of this? GET SOME PRINTS

The Creative Process...Currently living the dream

The creative process

As mentionned here, procrastination was my middle name today and it is not fun when it happens. I’m currently stuck between no 3 and no 4, getting ready to jump to no 6. Normally, when one of these days happens,
