Read on www.karinecandicekong.comAlthough England is the motherland of trench coats especially since Christopher Bailey revived Burberry‘s company legacy and made classic trenches cooler than ever, I’ve always felt that a classic trench was quintessentially French.

It could well be, because two of my favourite 70’s French style icons: Françoise Hardy and Jane Birkin (who is British but has spent most of her life in France) rocked the Trench like no-one before.

Gerard Darel* – a French brand which has over the years, produced some invigorating and original ad campaigns featuring Stephanie Seymour, Brooke Shields, Christy Turlington, Nastassja Kinski and currently Charlotte Gainsbourg, has some pretty stylish pieces to covet.

I’m loving these leather leggings by Baukjen by the way!

So here is three of my favourite Trench coats:
1/ This double-breasted trench coat by Four Seasons: £249
2/ This trench coat by Jaeger, often featured in fashion magazines: £250
3/ and John Lewis’ own version here: £99
