It took me a while to find a nice, coffee table for the lounge in CASA PYLA but it wasn’t something I wanted to rush.
Along with your sofa, the coffee table is a key focal point when you walk into a lounge. It’s one of the first things you notice and can often make or break a scheme.
I had a very clear scheme of natural materials, colors, and organic shapes in mind for CASA PYLA.
As the house is located two minutes’ walk from the beach, I wanted to use similar natural tones to the ones found at the beach.
Similar to our home in London and our first home in France, it was also important to me to create a space that felt like a holiday home all year long.
In those Covid times, having a home that makes you feel relaxed is important.
To create a timeless, soft minimalist vibe, I favored natural materials such as linen, light wood, leather. Then I focused on keeping a soft, natural palette using shades of whites, beige, and sometimes black to add contrast.
Bringing all these natural elements into your home help you to reconnect with nature. It also creates a sense of calm, which in turn helps to reduce stress.
The other thing important to me was to have a coffee table that would work beautifully with other pieces we already had such as the leather curved pouf by Kristina Dam, the 15chair by Kovac family and even the Ikea limited edition plywood chair.
With its beautiful form and curved shapes, the Insert coffee table by Ferm Living is everything I wish for and is a piece of art in itself.
Unsurprisingly, I’m also drawn to it by its material.
Made of solid ash, the Insert coffee table feels luxurious, sturdy, and tactile at the same time.
The Insert coffee table is also available in natural ash, which would have worked beautifully too in our home but I was really drawn to the dark version.
Having a few black accents like the table and the windows make our space a bit more interesting.
What do you think!?
