Being 52 this year, I have to admit it is the first time, I’m being self-conscious of my age. It never bothered me until now. It’s not even the number that bothers me. It’s seeing how my body ages in some areas.
When it comes to skincare and make-up routines, I’m really on the low end of maintenance.
I don’t wear a lot of make-up. A toner, day cream, and night cream were pretty much the only things I applied to my face for years and I was happy with that.
I suspect that if you are around the same age, little by little you’ve noticed things are changing.
At first, we don’t really care.
The lines around the eyes are getting deeper but that’s OK. The skin on our legs seems to be dry all the time but who cares. Nobody does and you don’t until you DO care. At the moment, I’m in that zone, trying to come to terms with all these changes.
I don’t know about you but I’ve always wanted to age gracefully, feeling fit and energetic.
Over the past decade, there were two compliments that made me really happy and they still do!
One from my hairdresser saying my hair is in great condition. One from make-up Artists on photoshoots saying I have great skin.
So how do we take care of all these small changes?
For those who have been following me for a while, you know that I’m a firm believer in feeding my skin inside out.
I take supplements regularly and this year, I have up my water game from one liter to two liters of water a day.
Drinking water is a no-brainer and if you’re not drinking yet a liter of water a day yet, please get yourself one of these water bottles and get started. I can really see a difference in my skin if I forget to drink.
However, these past few months, even healthy food, health supplements, and tons of water were no longer enough. I could see that my skin was losing its elasticity so I started adopting a skincare routine.
At the moment, one of the brands I’m using is Verso.
It’s a Swedish brand with age-defying skincare packed with ‘Retinol 8 Complex’. It is meant to be eight times more effective than typical retinol.
I’m almost at the end of my Verso Eye cream and I noticed the lines around my eyes being a lot less deep than at the beginning of the year. Added to those French Glow capsules, my skin never looked so good!
I’ve also used the Verso hydration mask which I loved and tonight I’m going to use their intense facial mask which I got in a Cult Beauty goody bag but I think this specific product may have been discontinued. Too bad I didn’t take a picture of the other mask before ripping it off open.
Those goodie bags are godsent when it comes to discovering new tried-and-tested products and I’m starting to have a few favorites and I will be happy to share if that’s something you are interested in.
